I wasn't going to post but your question inspired me to go looking out of curiosity!. Since I don't like many "veggie" style foods such as tofu, mushrooms, cilantro and it seems awkward for one guest to have something no one else is having I'd have just suggested having a lot of good veggie inspired dishes not giving the meat any more importance than the others so that everyone can partake of everything such as roasted veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, carrots, onions, etc), potatoes, relish plate (pickles, olives, etc), raw veggies (carrot sticks, cucumbers, etc), fruit (oranges), rolls (with vegan margarine -- Earth Balance is the best in North America), a green bean casserole (there are recipes without the Cream of Icky), Some veggie stuffing, and perhaps some roasted squash or sweet potato dish (I don't like the sweet so I avoided these until this last year when I found out how good they can be plain, curried, or other savory)!.

But!.!.!. I poked around the FatFree Vegan site just to see what she had (always something really drool-worthy there) and it's simply amazing so I thought you might want to see what she has that you could possibly serve!. The bonus is that as vegan that means anyone can eat it without restrictions other than sensitivities/allergies which often are possible to take into consideration also as for instance many of the recipes on the site are gluten-free!.

Under the label of "Holiday" there are what looks like brilliant recipes anyone regardless of diet would love to have especially the ones listed for Valentine's Day!. I feel overwhelmed by all the ones I'm eager to try now:

Probably best not to just make any of these recipes cold without trying them first before the big day so make what you're willing to eat then for the holiday make enough for everyone!. You don't even have to tell them it's meat-free but it can make for a great conversation at the end of the dinner as it will probably surprise a lot of people how good the food can be!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Each Christmas instead of the meat that the rest of my family has I have a Quorn roast which you can find in the freezer section of the supermarket!. It's delicious and goes perfectly with all the other things you eat for Xmas dinner!. If you can't find a Quorn roast then any other Quorn product will do!. Don't buy a nut roast though as it's horrible and always comes out dry!. The only other thing to be aware of is that if you use gravy, make sure it's a veggie one because many contain meat!. Bisto do very good veggie gravy and a couple of their 'meat' ones are veggie!. I'd recommend the red Bisto one for Xmas dinner!. Hope this helps and good luck:-)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Whatever you do, don't do a nut roast or quorn!. A lot of veggies can be sick and tired of these, and for Christmas dinner it's nice to have something a little special!.

Last year, I made a vegetable wellington, which was divine and went great with the roasties!. They're dead easy to make, just follow any interesting sounding recipe you can find on the net and you'll have one very happy vegetarian!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Ask him what he likes!. I used to have a nut roast (which my mother in law always made) but went off it so now i have a Quorn roast every year, it can be found in most supermarket freezer sections and can be cooked in advance and reheated!. See if he has a preference tho! also make sure your vegetables are actually vegetarian, like not cooking your potatoes in goose fat etc, no bacon in the cabbage (someone served me that once!), don't use the same spoon for meat and veg!. also find out if he likes stuffing and make some without meat and find out if there is a particular vegetarian gravy he prefers!Www@FoodAQ@Com

As Ian C said, and you're worried about, sometimes people will be sick of these!. Instead, try something fun!. What would be a good way to present vegetables!? Try making something like a veggie pie, but cook and serve it in a small pumpkin or half of an acorn squash!. Something like this is always very fancy because of the presentation!. Ensure that all, or at least most, of the side dishes are appropriate for him to eat!.!.!.that includes no meat broth in the stuffing!

Please also make sure if he's vegetarian or vegan!. Vegans can't eat dairy or eggs!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Top marks for wanting to avoid the usual things that yes, he's probably sick of getting when a guest!.

This site gives some great recipes for vegetarian Christmas food, and many are simple to make - the Creamy Mushroom Puff is great!.

Or, for convenience, there's things like tofurkey, or the Redwoods Celebration Roast someone has already mentioned

I have had Sarah Brown's tibetan roast for Christmas dinner for many years!. It can be served with all the vegetables that you will be having (so long as you don't cook the potatoes in animal fat)!.
It contains mushrooms and spinach and walnuts amongst other things - and it is delicious!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Wow, that's really great!. As someone else pointed out, make sure all the sides are vegan or vegetarian!. You can do a vegetarian stuffing and cook some in a casserole dish!. Make sure you use vegetable broth for the stuffing, of course!. And if you use a mix, make sure it doesn't have meat in it!.

www!.vegweb!.com has some recipes for holiday dishes and also has dinner pies that might be nice!.

And yes, ask him what sorts of dishes he likes or if he has any favorite holiday-type recipes you can make for him!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Quorn do a nice 'roast' which you cook in the oven like meat!. Try serving that with some veggie gravy, stuffing, all the seasonal vegetables and perhaps some yorkshire pudding - if I was coming to Christmas dinner I'd be well pleased with that!!

P!.S!. Nut roast, while delicious, can be dry and boring, and we tend to get it as the default veggie option!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

What we did a few years ago, was cook a Lentil Bake - it looks and tastes a bit like stuffing!.

It was baked in the oven the same time as a Roast Chicken!. We served with Roast Potatoes a spicy tomoato relish!. My cousin and her partner, who are both veges, loved it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Redwoods do a veggie roast - slices of "fake turkey" and even veggie sausaes wrapped in fake bacon!.

they're so nice!

If you have a Holland & Barratt near to you, they'll order it in too :)

Really really tasty!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Nut Roast is the classic which has bben served for decades in parts of the country with a high population of veggies-!. its delicious also!
