Shepherd's Pie for the Conscious?!
Hi!. I want to make Shepherd's pie, but I only eat free range, all natural chicken that's ethically raised!. i wonder if there is a bean stock product i could buy to substitute for the meat!?

There are all kinds of ways to fake this!. All you need to remember are the flavors!. People who are eating shepherd's pie are looking for something hearty and delicious, loaded with stick-to-your-ribs flavors and textures!. One thing I find that adds bulk and texture is lentils!. Add large chunks of veggies instead of just small cubes!. This will add to the homemade and hearty aspect for sure!. Make sure that your sauce/gravy is fabulous and flavorful and you can't go wrong!. You can do it with the chicken or make it vegetarian!. To make it really good, only use 1/2 the potatoes and fill in with cauliflower!. Cook and mash the cauliflower as you would the potatoes and mix in with the potatoes for a rich taste!Www@FoodAQ@Com
I would recommend Morningstar's crumbles as a good meat substitute!.

You can buy quorn or veggie mince which tastes just as good as meat, or theirs soy mince but i think quorn tastes better :P Www@FoodAQ@Com
You could just use beans like lentils or black beans instead of buying expensive mock meat!. But if you do decide to buy mock meat I suggest light life crumbles or Black Bean Garden Burger!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
