There is a simple way to always make good rice that isn't hard or sticky!. I hope you're ready for this, because you're about to get schooled up on rice from someone who's been eating it just about every day of her entire life!

1!. Wash rice!. There's some gross stuff on there that you just don't need!.
2!. Place rice in rice cooker!. If you don't have one, buy one!. This will take all the guesswork out of cooking rice, and make it much easier for you!. Most rice cookers also double as steamers, which is just handy!. They come in various sizes, so you can get a small one if you don't have a lot of people to feed or don't have a lot of counter space!. They are also relatively cheap!. Rival makes a 6 cup rice cooker for only $12 (available at Target or get from Target!.com: http://www!.target!.com/Rival-6-cup-Rice-C!.!.!. )
3!. Put your index finger on the top of the rice!. Add water until the water comes up to your first knuckle on that index finger (the line closest to your nail)!. While this isn't an accurate method, this is how everyone I know from Guam cooks rice!. Since we're from Guam, this is how I was taught!. Even though my mom's knuckle and my knuckle are not the same length, the rice always comes out well no matter who makes it!.
4!. Set the rice cooker and go about your business!.

Now all you need is to add some pizazz to it!. For a richer flavor, use vegetable stock instead of water and make it the same way!. Because the rice cooker doubles as a steamer, you can add some fresh or frozen veggies of your choice, as well as seasoning if you'd like, to the rice before you start cooking!. Try adding sauteed diced onion, which comes out just great if you love onion!.

If you're a fan of rice you get in a Mexican restaurant, you're looking for Mexican red rice!. Here's a recipe: http://www!.recipezaar!.com/138356 Instead of the beef or chicken broth, just use vegetable broth!.

Ever thought about CHOCOLATE rice!? This is a popular Filipino dish, which means that we are fans of it on Guam as well!. There is a recipe here: http://www!.recipezaar!.com/132659 that you can check out!. This is extremely easy to make and isn't too sweet!.!.!.you get a nice cocoa flavor!. This is a comfort food of mine!. If you don't eat dairy, try using vanilla soy/rice/almond milk to get the creaminess and sweetness that you'd find in the condensed milk!. However, we've never eaten with the milk and it's just fabulous!. You can always use rice, soy, or almond milk, of course!

What kinds of rices are there!? You'll be most familiar with white and brown rice, but there are many kinds of white rice!. Jasmine rice will leave you will the least sticky version, while sticky rice and glutenous rice are going to leave you with a sticker result!. There's also STINKY rice, so watch out for that! The chocolate rice recipe calls for sweet rice, which is just what it sounds like!. There's also short, medium, and long grain rice!.!.!.most people are familiar with long grain rice, but if you're going to store some leftovers in the fridge, the short and medium grain rice come back to life much better when reheated than the long grain version!. There's also black rice, which tastes sweet and a little chewy, and cooks about the same time as white rice so you can certainly make this in a rice cooker!.

Probably more info than you wanted, but now you'll be able to make yourself a fabulous pot of rice!Www@FoodAQ@Com
