What do you think of "rawism"?!
Anyone here ever tried of being a rawist, or is one!?
(A rawist is a person who doesn't eat meat, fish, dairy or processed flours and eats their vegetables raw)
What's your opinion on it if you aren't (or are) one!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I do not follow the rawist diet!. It is not as nutritionally sound as they try to make it out!. Several foods will not release their nutrients until they have been at least lightly steamed!. This site has some other stuff on it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I've just started researching this myself, hoping to get some tips on managing gestational diabetes (I'm getting pretty sick of my salads!.) Over the years I've read a whole lot about nutrition and have come to the conclusion that there isn't any one style that will suit everyone, because people's bodies work in different ways; allergies, diabetes, cholesterol issues etc!.
That being said, it seems most of the criticisms can be solved by being sensible!. Wash your food, and you probably won't get food poisoning!. Don't eat foods raw that are poisonous unless cooked! I think the ideas are pretty good, if taken in moderation!. I don't think 100% raw is a good aim, and I can't imagine why anyone would think so!. Methinks people who are trying to do this are taking what they consider to be a good thing, and making it bad by overdoing it!. More doesn't necessarily make it better!.
The book I've been reading talks of eating only fruit for breakfast, and leaving 5 hours between starch and protein That goes against what I'm learning as a gestational diabetic, that I need to spread my carbs carefully throughout the day!. Of course the diet wasn't formed for diabetic people and I assume this style of eating works for some people!.
Some raw foodies do eat meat and dairy, and even some cooked veggies (raw potato isn't good for you!) they just aren't hard core rawists, which as I've already said, seems a bad idea!.
There are some snippits of what I've read that I intend to implement in the future (ie, if the diabetes clears up, I no longer have toddlers, and I do actually have the energy for food prep and dishwashing!) One of those ideas is making juice for hubby when he gets home from work!. If this perks him up, he might reduce his coffee intake ;)Www@FoodAQ@Com

I know a few raw people (I live near boulder colorado) and they are extremely healthy(They really understand their diet though, down to the mollecular level)!. Cooking most foods actually takes out a lot of nutrients from them (however tomatoes are different, but still provide adequate lycopene raw)!. This lady has a lot of youtube info about raw food I would check that out, because I don't know too much about it

God put animals on this earth for us to eat!.!.!.in order for us to survive and thrive!. Our bodies need certain nutrition that veggies alone don't provide, but are found in a wide variety of meats and byproducts!.
To each be their own, however I choose to be a believer in our good Lord! :)
