Almond Milk For Babies questions ~vegans/vegetarians~?!
I have recently opted for a healthier lifestyle for my baby and I, He is 10 months!. I have took him off formula and switched to almond milk!. i just wanted some advice on it!.
should i still be giving him formula or switch completely!?
hes bowel movements are not as regular, should i be worried!?
what are the pros and cons!?
i would like answers from parents who have actually switched their babies to almond milk, not random people who are quick to point out "becareful about nut allergies blah blah blah!.!.!.!." i have done research, so i am aware of what i am doing!!!
thanks in advance

If he is having bowel problems it could be just from the adjustment!. Almond milk is very rich and it may be a bit to rich for a child that small!. Rice milk is actually a better in between substitute!. It's gentler on the stomach but provides the thickening elements that allow for a baby to transition from liquid to solid foods!. It's actually a method that people have been using for centuries but they just recently started making a market out of rice milk!. Contrary to what everyone says, 10 months is old enough to start weening off breast milk!. And cows milk is not an option and the bacteria that feed off the high amounts of lactose can actually kill a child under the age of two!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
If you're going to wean your child, you might want to look for a soy-based formula if you don't want to give your child mammals' milk!. Most plant milks are absolutely clear in that they are not to be used as baby formula and homemade nut milks aren't fortified, so those would be even worse!.
Ask your child's pediatrician about a nutritionist and also look at sites geared toward raising vegan children!. I think there's a vegetarian family site, but as I'm childfree, I don't know what the content is!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I had a friend who tried it!. The doctors had a fit!. Her daughter's vitamin D levels dropped!. She was told that she needed to leave her daughter on whole cow's milk or whole goat's milk until at the very least four years oldWww@FoodAQ@Com
wtf is wrong with breastmilk!? almond milk is for properly developed humans not babies! kids die bc their parents get health-freaky and dont feed them right!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I know you don't want to hear about allergies, but you should be aware (as a parent with a nut allergy kid) that giving nut products to a child this young significantly increases the likelihood of him having a nut allergy when he's older!. Even if he's OK now, this exposure at this age is not advisable!.
OK, that lecture over!.!.!. The problem with almond milk (or soy milk or plain milk) over formula (or breast milk) is that it lacks a bunch of stuff that the child (at that age) needs!. This is why the package says "not to be used as an infant formula!." If you want to use almond milk, you'll need to replace all the other nutrients (and fats and sugars, which are important to an infant) from the formula!. That's hard for an infant!.
What I'd suggest, if you haven't already, is that you meet with your pediatrician and discuss a diet that's appropriate for your child!. Asking people on the Internet isn't a good idea!. Even if we happen to have particular experiences, this doesn't mean that we know your child or, should something not go right, be able to provide appropriate medical care!.
My statements about allergies (which you've blown off) are a great example!. My experience is that early exposure to nuts has caused a life threatening problem for my kid (who is now 5)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Almond milk is not supposed to be used as an infant formula!. It is acid forming for one, and does not contain bacteria the child needs to be healthy (that he would normally be getting from the mom)!. It is also very high in protein, which is not easy on his system to digest, unless you were giving him milk from sprouted almonds!.
If you need an alternitive milk because you can no longer feed him, raw goat milk( NOT cows), is your best choice!. Its mineral content is very similar to that of a humans milk, and it is very easily digested by the body!. Your child would most likely be getting everything he needs by drinking raw goats milk!.
Cows milk is the complete opposite, and I never recommend feeding it to your child (regardless of what the doctors say, they are in no way qualified in nutrition)!. Raw cows milk is better, but still even then its completely unnatural to the human body because of its mineral imbalances and high protien content!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
