Anyone out there vegetarian? why or why not?!

Question: Anyone out there vegetarian!? why or why not!?
Answers:
I am a vegetarian for many, many reasons!. For starters, the obvious health reasons (I feel much more energetic and I am performing much better in tae kwon-do, besides the fact that I'll probably live longer by reducing risks of cancers and heart disease, I guess)!.

My main reasons are environmental and philosophical!. Of course, eating meat depletes the environment/ecosystems/rainforests, contributes to global warming, and takes away food from the hungry!.

I also believe, like Gandhi, in living a simple lifestyle as free of violence as possible!. Meat is symbolic of power, strength, high social status, and luxury, and I certainly don't want to be associated with those things!. I'd much rather be associated with humility, generosity and simplicity (which is also why I don't wear leather or fur, which I also consider "violent" luxuries)!.

Lastly, I just don't like the taste of meat (haha wow it is gross)!. I have developed an aversion to it, so I guess it's just not appetizing anymore!.

So overall, I want to make a difference!. For every cow I dont eat and every chicken I dont munch on, there will be one less tree cut down, one less animal suffering, and --as a good friend of mine puts it-- "one more reason to believe in humanity!."Www@FoodAQ@Com

No I'm not but I have vegetarians in my circle and I respect their choice not to eat meat!.
I like to adapt a vegetarian lifestyle temporarily if I need to lose weight or if I have health issues!. But I don't live that way 365 days a year!. It's an ideal lifestyle because meat puts more strain on the heart and arteries!. Bacteria in the animal is present in the meat we eat and this can cause cancer or other ills!. But eating meat 3-4 days a week is okay as long as we eat a lot of vegetables!.

I love reading other people's stories of how they became vegetarian/vegan :) Heres mine:

I initially became vegetarian because I didn't think it was right to kill other animals when you could survive perfectly well without meat!.

Concerns over how battery hens are treated made me switch to free-range eggs, and the environmental impact of the dairy industry in my home country (New Zealand) made me cut down on consumption of dairy products!. I admired vegans because I thought they were "hard-core" but didn't really understand why they thought veganism was necessary!.

I became vegan when I realised that the egg and dairy industries were just that: industries!.

They view animals purely as production units: any animal that is not "productive" is killed!.

This includes males chicks and calves, as well as animals that are too old/exhausted to continue "producing"!.

These discoveries lead me to decide that, for me to live in a way that was consistent with my own personal ethics, I had no choice but to become vegan!. I thought it would be hard, but once I had made the decision there was no looking back!.!.!. and it is so much easier than I thought it would be!.

Simply put, becoming vegan was the best thing I have ever done in my life!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've gone sorta vegan!. I know, in the past, I figured if you weren't all or nothing, you were a hipocrite!. I like the taste of omlets, steak, cheese, yogert, ice cream!. But on the other hand!.!.!.eating baby chicken embryos, rotting decomposing meat, ect!.!.!. I take that into consideration!. I have the means to live life health with meat alternatives, so I am exploring that!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i am a vegatarian because i seen the movies "earthlings" and "meet your meat"!. you can see these free online, just do a search!. that pretty much done me!. i have found that i do not miss meat at all!. there are lots and lots of fun, healthy, filling foods that do not require meat!. just google it and you can find it!. animals are treated so bad and given hormones and other drugs so that the factory farmer can make more money!. i care about my body and what goes in it!. i can not be apart of what is going on and sleep at night!. i really believe if you watched these two movies then you would feel the same way i do!. the truth is scary!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
