Do you think wearing fake fur promotes wearing real fur too?!

Question: Do you think wearing fake fur promotes wearing real fur too!?
Recently, I had the choice of buying a real fur hat and a fake fur one!. I bought the fake fur!.

I want your opinion-do you think this promote wearing real fur when the fake one looks almost as real!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
No, I don't think it does!. I think it promotes the fact that you can buy fake fur which is cruelty free!. I think the vast vast majority of people nowadays deplore real fur being used for clothes and such enough not to be encouraged to wear it by seeing fake fur being worn!.
You just have to think about what happens to produce real fur garments to be thoroughly put off!. I think only people who are greedy enough not to care about the animals that are horribley abused in the process of making fur garments wear real fur!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't think so, no!.

I don't like the look of it myself, as it reminds me of real fur, and of the horrendous conditions and suffering of the animals!.

But I don't think it "promotes" real fur, any more than eating veggie sausages promotes eating meat - quite the opposite, as it shows people that all that suffering is completely unnecessary as there are such good alternatives available!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't think it's any different from buying vegetarian sausages or burgers!. It's still a substitute and eating veggie sausages does not promote the buying of real ones!.

The feel of fur is nice, I only have to pet my cats to know that!. I would never, ever buy real fur though!. If I wanted to feel fur, I would buy fake and be sure to tell everyone it's fake! I personally see it as as opportunity to be able to have the nice feeling of fur without it being real!. That's why people but vegetarian foods that are designed to look like meat type foods, otherwise why make veggie burger/sausages/lasagne etc!. Why not just have different foods instead of them being made to look like other things!?

I wonder if I could persuade one of my cats to sit on my head and pretend to be a hat!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hmmm maybe!. Personally I'd never wear anything made of fur - fake or real!. I think it looks awful!. I saw a programme about the 'production' of real fur and it turned my stomach!. I can't bear to see anybody wearing fur!. I know fake fur is ethically ok but it does elude to the real fur industry!.
I guess if someone saw you wearing your fur hat they might think 'oh that's nice' and then buy a real fur one!.!.!. that's the only situation i can think in which fake fur promotes real fur!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think it can if people don't realize it's fake!.

Personally though, I think ALL forms of fur are ludicrous, unless used in blankets or things of the like!. A coat that puffs out 3-9 inches from your body is unnecessary and does NOT look good!. It just makes me point and laugh, or get outraged that you're insensitive enough to wear real fur, or mock an animal by trying to recreate it's beauty!.

=)
Hope it helps!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

no, i don't think so!. people who care about animals will always choose the fake fur!. even people who don't care about animals, or no longer care when it comes to great clothes, may choose the fake one, as the real fur clothes can get really expensive!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i cant see why vegetarians or vegans would have a problem with it!.!.!.!.!.after all they eat fake meat which looks like and tastes like real meat!.!.!.!.arnt they then promoting real meat as people from a distance see them eating what looks like chicken!.!.!.it may be fake but it looks like the real thingWww@FoodAQ@Com

I don't have a problem with fur anyway, no more than I did about fox hunting (and no, I do not ride so have never hunted)!.
I think it's a class envy thing, which is why fishing won't get banned!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It is promoting a "look of death"!.

I don't condemn people that wear fake fur!. I, however, will not unless I'm at a anti fur rally and it's covered in fake blood!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, I hate the idea of real fur!. But if I saw someone wearing fur (real or fake) I wouldn't know wheather it was real or fake!. So for me it wouldn't promote buying fur but I don't know about other people!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's the look of it!. That's what some people want, the look of a fur hat for example!. I don't think it promotes the wearing of it!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, most people nowadays don't look at fake fur and automatically think 'I know for 10 times the cost and the whole murdering little animals I will get myself a real version of that'Www@FoodAQ@Com

well it would be better to wear the fake one beacause then the animal didnt die,
then it would because it was probably cheaper
n its kinda gross wearin an animal on ur headWww@FoodAQ@Com

Yes it does - it re-inforces the message of fur being luxurious and "wealthy"!.
I stay well clear of it and I don't care if it's fake or real!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes it does in a way promote wearing real fur coz the fake one almost looks like the real one!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It only depends on what the other persons mind takes in!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Please post your question in the right place!. The Food and Drink category is NOT the place for such a question!. Here, we EAT the animals, not dress in them!.!.!.!.!.!.
and before someone says this is not an answer, here's mine:
I don't think it makes any difference at all!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
