A dictionary definition of vegetarian is "a person who doesn't eat meat, and sometimes other animal products, esp!. for moral, religious, or health reasons!.

The dictionary definition for vegan is "a person who does not eat or use animal products!.

I grew up as a vegan until 2nd grade when I felt that it was too hard for me to miss out on the ice cream cake and pizza and my friends birthday parties!. However, I am certainly planning on becoming a vegan in the near future!.

As a vegetarian you do not eat meat - some people say that they are vegetarian but eat fish!. The correct word they should be applying to themselves is "Pescetarian!." Most actual vegetarians do not consider this the proper way to be vegetarian!.

As a vegetarian you will want to make sure to get enough protein!. Beans/ legumes are a good starting choice to do so!. You also will want to try a lot of soy products (seitan, and other substitute meat)!. It is important to look for vegetarian restaurants in your area!. If you eat out sometimes it is always fun to be able to go somewhere where you will be able to eat everything!.

Going further and becoming a Vegan is a very hard choice!. My mother has been a vegan since the day I was born and like i said before, I was also a vegan and planning to become one once again in the near future!. However, as a vegan you will have much less variety of things to eat!. For example, a lot of soy products are made with egg making it much more difficult for you to get protein!. It will be important to go for a full blood test every so often as your doctor recommends to be checked for iron, protein levels!.!.!.etc!.

Just so you know - one of my favorite things to eat is tempeh - which is an Indonesian dish made by stir frying fermented soybeans!. It is sold in any supermarket and my family loves eating it with maple syrup!.

I hope this helped you :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

vegetarians do NOT eat meat!.
no chicken, beef (cow, that includes steak), no turkey, no pork (pig), etc!.

Some vegetarians eat fish,!.

a lot of foods are vegetarian, you have to read the ingredients on everything, its hard at first but you get used too it!. Watch out for animal 'flavoring' (chicken flavoring, etc) and gelatin (especially in candy)

Vegans do not eat ANY animals products (including fish) and they also don't eat any dairy products (including milk, cheese, sour cream, etc)!. They also don't eat eggs!.

Most products that are vegan will say "Vegan" under the ingredients in red letters!. But not everything does so you still have to read the ingredients!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

"What foods do you not eat!?"
If you're vegetarian, no meats at all!. If you're vegan, no animal products, including meats, dairy, eggs, and honey!.

"What foods do you eat!?"
For both, grains, nuts, legumes (beans and peanuts), vegetables, and fruits!. If you're vegetarian and not vegan, add dairy, eggs, and honey to that list!.

A lot of people think it's a limiting diet, but you should be encouraged to go all out and try a variety of different foods!Www@FoodAQ@Com

!.!.!. if your a full vegetarian you wouldn't eat meat, eggs, dairy or honey, and you eat everything else that doesn't come from an animal!. There are different versions that include dairy, eggs, or honey, and those have a prefix to them, like lacto-vegetarian, etc!.

Vegans don't just avoid animal food products, they avoid supporting company's that mistreat animals, and buying any products that come from animals!.

hope that helps!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Vegetarians don't eat foods that come from dead animals!. So no flesh foods, but also no slaughter byproducts like meat broths, lard, gelatin, and rennet!. Foods from living animals are fair game as are plant-based foods!.

Vegans don't eat anything of animal origin whatsoever!. We eat only plants and a select few fungi!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Here's something that often goes unnoticed:

Vegans have to be wary of glue, dryer sheets and wine because glue is made out of animal parts, dryer sheets are made out of (or have in them) animal fat, and often things like gelatin or other animal products are used in clarifying and fining wine!.

There are probably other things also that slip our notice, too!. It's hard work being vegan in this world!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I say speaking from my own experience of becoming vegetarian it is definately a process of learning and researching for sources and networking with other people, and don't beat yourself up about it if you slip and decide to eat a piece of meat or some junk food with not so good ingredieants!. There are different levels of vegetarianism some will stop eating all meat and eat fish occassionally !. A Vegan is a person who may eat raw no milk , cheese, starch, sugar, etc!. and not applying alot of heat to their food, alot of soaking and light if any heat!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Vegetarians do not eat any meat(animals) at all including fish & chicken!." Real" vegetarians do not eat fish or chicken!. I am vegetarian!. I try to eat foods that are mostly organic(no preservatives, additives, etc!.)I don't drink coffee or alcohol-that is by choice!. If you are going to be a vegetarian why go half way!? Go 100%!. You can eat anything as long as it isn't animal flesh:Fresh Fruits, Vegetables, nuts, grains, seeds, legumes, soy milk(Silk is the best!), rice milk, hemp milk," fake" meat such as products from Morningstar Farms, Loma Linda, Worhtington, Boca, ect!. Try Tofurky for Thanksgiving! :)

Some vegetarians do not eat dairy or eggs!.

Vegans do not eat anything that is animal or comes from an animal!. They do not eat dairy, meat, eggs, fish, honey, or even wear clothes and use deodorants or cosmetics from animal testing!. Read this article for more information!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

well if you are going to be switching and currently DO eat meat (and fish) id suggest first going in to this being a pescetarian!. thats the name for people who do not eat meat (chicken, cow, lamb, ect) but do still eat fish!.

being full vegetarian is hard!. fish provides us with a LOT of things we need to be healthy!.!.!.meat is easier to find replacements!. its easier to be a pescetarian and still make sure youre getting all the right nutrientsWww@FoodAQ@Com

Well i'm not technically a vegetarian by the fact i eat fish but it all depends!. I'm a pescitarian or so that means i eat fish!. You can eat eggs if you want its all about choice!. Just do what you can for the animals they are saving!. Join peta, go to a rally, promote animal rights in you school/work!. Just do what you can =]Www@FoodAQ@Com
