If you were a vegetarian and had non-vegetarians over for dinner, would you cook meat?!
Answers:
I cook meat for my family, even though I am vegetarian!. Although I think it's wrong to eat meat, I think it's wrong to impose your views on other people!.
So, yes, I would cook meat for my friends if they asked!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Most people, even meat eaters, eat plant foods, but there are people who won't eat meat!. I've even cooked tofu for my omni family!
A vegetarian could cook a stir-fry, some pasta with marinara sauce, a vegetable casserole, stuffed peppers--the options are limitless!. It's easy to create a meal so an omni won't even miss the meat!.
So, no, I would never cook meat for my family!. If they want to eat meat while dining with me, we'll have to go to a restaurant!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm veggie but my boyfriend is an omni and I sometimes cook meat for him!.He doesn't ask me to but if he's in my house I like to make him feel comfortable!. When I say "cook" I mean I'll put something that I've bought pre-prepared into the oven or microwave!.
He doesn't expect me to handle raw meat in my home and he appreciates what I serve him!. Just as often if I'm doing something nice that's vegetarian, he'll have that instead!.
I understand that being veggie is a personal choice and that the respect and care that's shown to me in other peoples homes should be returned!.
If a household is vegetarian for religious reasons, and is following religious guidelines, then I think a visiting omni really wouldn't expect to be served meat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you are not uncomfortable cooking meat and know that your guests really like meat/expect it then you can if you wish to, although if they know that you are vegetarian they probably won't expect to be eating meat and will eat whatever you make for them!
If you make them a really tasty vegetarian dinner, they will probably not even care there wasn't any meat :D

It depends on your feelings about being a vegetarian!. Some are militant and do not like eating meat because it comes from animals!. You could be someone that does not take the hard line stance and it could not bother you!. I have also met various supposed vegetarians that "eat chicken or fish!." It really boils down to your attitude!. However you can make something like pasta with red sauce that everyone can enjoy regardless of their orientation!. I eat some meat and I would not at all be offended if the menu was adapted to something that everyone could enjoy together!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
No I would not!.
If a meat-eater with any sensitivity or just plain good manners invites a vegan or vegetarian to their home with the express purpose of sharing a meal with them, they provide a meal which their vegetarian or vegan guest will be able to eat - that is, a vegetarian or vegan meal!. Thank you, we appreciate it!.
If a meat-eater with any sensitivity or just plain old good manners is invited to the home of a vegetarian or vegan for a meal, they will realise that it is most unlikely that their host will be providing meat and, as they are not carnivorous - that is living on a diet exclusively of meat - there will be nothing served at the meal which they cannot eat!.
If there is a meat-eater too set in his/her ways or too unadventurous to be prepared to go without meat for one meal, then I assume they would politely decline the invitation to eat at a vegetarian's home!.
If you had Muslim friends you would provide them with a meal without pork if they ate at your house!. When you ate at theirs, would you expect them to return the favour and cook you pork!? Or would you be sensible, respect their beliefs and eat the meal they provided!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think I would cook vegetarian, just because when people come over you want to show them what nice food you eat/cook!
Plus, vegetarian food is more colourful and tasteful, so everyone would be really impressed!.
But on the point of expecting meat eaters to cook non-meat dinners for you, I guess I'd be happy just to have what everyone else was having minus the meat!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, I wouldn't!. I'm a meat eater, but there are so many delicious vegetarian foods that I regularly eat something vegetarian if we go out to eat!. I do not feel short changed if I don't eat meat, and in my experience plenty of people are like me!.
There is no need to get all 'preachy' about being a vegetarian (not saying you will, but some veggies can feel the need to 'convert' meat eaters!)!. All you have to do is cook a really tasty vegetarian meal for them - let the food do the talking! I'm sure your guests will be very grateful!Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, because everyone apart from vegans can eat vegetarian food!. I wouldn't as anyone to cook or eat anything against their beliefs so I'd want people to treat me in the same way!. Besides, there are loads of delicious Quorn and soya products that taste a lot like meat so I don't think that not cooking meat for people who eat meat would be a big problem!. The rest of my family aren't veggies and they like my meat alternatives!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
If you had a nut allergy, you would not expect to be served roasted nut loaf and people would not expect you to serve it!. It's not exactly the same thing, but I think when u have a specific dietary requirment, people should be prepared to accept this, because meat-eaters can eat anything vegetarians can eat, but we can't eat meat, or animal products so we are at the disadvantage, it's common curtesy that they should be able to compensate!. i hope that made sense!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
If I was a vegetarian then probably not!. No-one would expect a vegetarian to start handling a bloody chunk of beef for them!.
I'm not however and mmmm cows lol!.
{EDIT} Hey came back, I like what you did there and that has happened to me before!. I made a full sunday roast and served up before my partners friends just sneered at me and told me they didn't eat dead animals! Lol
Last time they came round and I saved the rest in the fridge for sandwiches teheheWww@FoodAQ@Com

I'm vegetarian, and what my husband and i do is cook a meal suitable for everyone and yes we cook meat as well so it can be added later!.
I dont expect people to change for me if i am going for a meal at someones house and they had served meat i would just ask them to leave the meat off my plate!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
They are omnivore, not carnivore!. They can spare one meal without meat and survive!. If they have a fit, they can simply reject the invite!.
Edit:
I know thats what you were getting at, and my point is they can eat both meat AND vegetables!. They do not have to settle for a meat filled meal everytime, just because their diet allows them to eat meat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

JJ: Yes I know it's difficult for you because you were conditioned to eat dismembered body parts morning, afternoon and night!. Will one plant-based meal hurt you though!? If anything, it will help you!.!.!. think of it as a cleansing meal!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No I wouldn't!.
People who come to my house know that I will not cook meat for them!.
There are plenty of non-meat meals that can be cooked for all to enjoy!. Gone are the days when the only alternative option was cardboard veggie burgers!!
I'm not asking the people to turn into vegetarians, I'm just asking them, fo rthis one meal, to get over it and embrace my choice of life!. It won't kill them!Www@FoodAQ@Com

My immediate family are meat eaters, but my cousin and her partner are vegetarians!. They came to dinner one day, and my Mum cooked a vegetarian meal in the oven at the same time as a joint of meat was cooking!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No we'd never cook meat in our house!. All the guests we've had, have been very surprised after a meal with us that it wasn't real meat, that it was Quorn,as they'd never have known!.
