I am a vegetarian and thanksgiving is coming up. Oh no! Turkey?!?!

Question: I am a vegetarian and thanksgiving is coming up!. Oh no! Turkey!?!!?
When I smell meat it seriously makes me want to vomit!. Seeing meat being eaten or even worse seeing a turkey carcass being chewed on and cut up is terrifying for me!. I do not eat fake meat like tofurkey because it tastes and smells like MEAT!. I don’t eat meat for a reason!. I don’t like it!. Thanksgiving is coming up and it’s nice to spend it with the family and friends but I am the only vegetarian in my family and I was thinking about me and some vegetarian friends getting together and having our own veggie thanksgiving!. What is your opinion!? Is it extremely rude to say that I am not going to make it this year because seeing a beheaded featherless bird being cooked and tortured is revolting to me!? I will just loose my appetite!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I like the idea above about maybe you could do a deal with them of a completely vegetarian thanksgiving! Tell your family you can help by providing good recipes etc!. If they don't like that idea then make a large vegetarian dish to share and slowly show them that vegetarian food is not weird, but can be yummy and nutritious!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Offer to cook a veggie dish to share with them and GO!. It sucks to miss time with your folks!. Bring some good food and share it with them!. I do think it's very rude-- you can ask them to try and keep it out of your face but if you hide from them they'll just think you're a big weirdo!.

This is a great chance to share some veggie food with them and show them how normal you can be!.

While I can't stand the smell of cooking meat, I get over it!. The event is about being with family, not whining about dead animals!. If you feel like you won't be able to eat, eat before hand so you can at least push food around on your plate and pretend to respect their choice the same way they respect yours!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think you need to grow up!.

Honestly, it's just a turkey!. This is a mind over matter thing!. You think dead animals are gross, and so your mind is overreacting!. That's why you get sick at the sight or smell of it!.

I don't have a problem with people being vegetarian!. To each his own!. But when things like this become so important that you are willing to spend a holiday away from your own family members, that's where it becomes a problem with me!.

I hope I don't sound rude!. I'm really not trying to be!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Im with you on the animal rights but personally, I dont mind tofurkey because I mean no animals were harmed right!?

Bring a vegetarian dish that you can share and just dont look at the turkey and try to be polite!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

My mother in law is a vegetarian, but is respectful of us meat eaters!. Every year she comes to thanksgiving dinner and brings a vegetable, and I ALWAYS make a vegetarian casserole for her!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

My sister is a vegetarian too, and for Canadian Thanksgiving she made this stuffed pumpkin entre!. Or maybe politely ask your family if they will serve an alternative meal this year!. Something totally vegetarian approved!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Ask your fam to let you eat in another room!. or have them eat the turkey while you are somewhere else!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

its not really rude because its how you feel!. do what you feel is right!.
especially if your going to be sick!!
just go over for dessert!Www@FoodAQ@Com
