I dislike it when other vegans wear shirts or bumper stickers that say,
" Heart attacks, God's revenge for people eating meat, or " Meat it's what 's rotting in your colon"!. I also dislike the fact that many of us were once meat eaters and seem to forget that and start walking around like our **** don't stink!. This stuff is uncalled for and turns people away from vegetarianism who might otherwise be interested in trying it!.

Yes I agree with the criticisms from others in your details!. Collectively we can do a better job of learning how to live and let live!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm vegan, and I find the same things annoying in a vegan or vegetarian as I find annoying in a meat-eater!. Veg*ns are not all of one mind; their ideas, politics, behaviours and personalities are as diverse as those of meat-eaters!.

What strikes me about many of your responses on other boards is that they are mainly responses to a stereotype; I believe most of the people answering have in fact met few if any veg*ns!.

If we are talking specifically about users of this V&V board, there is something I find more than annoying - the fact that some users will make unsubstantiated and unproven claims for the health benefits of veg*nism and the health risks of eating meat!. The C word is thrown around by people who have absolutely no knowledge of cancer; I can sort of overlook it when the person is clearly very young, but from adults it's inexcusable!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I hate when other vegetarian and veg@ns go out trying to spread the word about factory farming and the dairy industry when it is an inappropriate time or when it is completely unwanted in the first place!. Then people begin to think we are all like that giving us that reputation of having a holier than thou persona!. I have seen it many times and it doesn't make me as proud to say i'm a veg@n!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

As an African American I find PETA insensitive They have compared meat production to slavery-- I thought this was wrong on many levels!. I think meat production is bad-- but why bring up the trauma of our history!?

Why did PETA bring up the Holocaust too!? I think that's the same kind of insensitivity!.

I'm vegetarian and I don't tell people I know about it since I want nothing to do with PETA!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

So far I havent had any issues with either vegans or vegetarians!. To be fair I don't know very many so I may come across some issues in the future!. The main problem I have is with meat eaters who think I'm being ridiculously silly!.!.!. I don't comment on the fact they wanna eat meat so why do they think its ok to comment on my choice to not eat meat! GrrrrWww@FoodAQ@Com

Sometimes (on this site at least) vegans give vegetarians a bad time over eating dairy and/or eggs!. Negative, unneseccary comments such as: ''milk is rape, eggs are abortion, honey is a product of slave labour''!.!.etc really set things back for the cause!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I find it annoying that some vegetarians and vegans don't accept fish eating vegetarians as a legitimate vegetarian after a reputable dictionary source has defined pescetarian as a vegetarian!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I dislike when some vegans try to pressure me to give up dairy and eggs!. I already don't eat that much of it and if I quit it will be when it's right for me!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I personally find a holier-than-thou attitude obnoxious in anyone!. I think it's pretty annoying for vegetarians and vegans to proselytize, whether I agree with them or not!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

vegans sometimes debate with vegetarians about how vegetarians should become vegans!.

My number one pet peeve is when they throw out food and WASTE a life (rather than eat it and gain nutritional value) when they are accidentally served meat!. I understand that the mindset about meat changes drastically, but I at least try to eat around it or even eat it when its given to me accidentally and there's no one at all else I can give it to!. In the city I will often ask if the kitchen staff will eat it, and if they aren't allowed to I get it to go and give it to a homeless person, who's totally happy)

So I don't expect people to necessarily eat it!. But I do expect some kind of effort to go out toward seeing that it doesn't go in the trash!. I've seen people turn away meaty food in such a spiteful manner!. And its truly cutting of one's nose to spite one's face in my opinion!.

The other thing I dislike is people who eat fish and say they are vegetarian or worse yet, vegan!. It drives me batty!. One of my friends did this and I mentioned it to her, and she said its just easier to say vegan than explain what she will eat and when and why!. For her part, I can understand!. Its not a moral thing, but a nutritional thing, so she does eat some animal products, but only in certain circumstances!. And no actual animal flesh, but fish/sea food!. But it still does drive me a little nuts, its just easier to understand!.

While smug anyone (vegans, professionals etc) would drive me crazy, I'll frankly say I would tell my friends and family where their food came from, because I feel like they'd want to know the information!. When and if it seemed like they'd prefer not to know, I kept it to myself from then on!. But its frustrating that people would rather be in denial than accept responsibility at the very least!. I now no longer consider myself a vegetarian in the true since, for me personally, what I call Sustainable Eating suits me better!. But I retain responsibility of where my food comes from and am mindful of the energy and time that went into the food to get it in my mouth, not just meat either, vegetables and the farm workers and natural resources and so on!. So I guess what I'm driving at is that willful ignorance on anyone's part is another major pet peeve and vegetarians can be just as guilty of that as meat eaters so it never made since to act better than other people due to my own personal choices!. I'm proud of living by my ethical standards, but I keep in mind they are my standards, so them on their own isn't really anything to be proud of, just my ability to live by them!. I don't think there are enough people able to do that!.
