I have a question for all the vegans?!
I know they you don't eat meat, and in most cases not even dairy since it comes from the beefy animal!. But do you take any meat supplements to replenish red blood cells!?
If you do, do you know for certain that there is nothing to do with meat in them!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I was vegan for about 3 years, but I got really ill, felt much weaker and wasn't able to work out as intensely as I used to!. My skin and hair became dry and dull, and my fingernails got weak, chipped easily and didn't grow and were covered in white splotches!. My muscle definition sort of melted away and I was left with (still) slim but yet flabby arms, legs and midsection!.
I was eating all the best organic fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, grains and legumes, taking vitamins and healthy oils but still the vegan way of eating did not work for me!. I added back fish, eggs and white meats to my diet, and I felt stronger again!. I'm not really sure what the problem was, but I found that I did need meat in my diet, maybe for the red blood cells and iron, I don't know!.
I think some people can do well on a vegan diet, and others, like me, need some animal proteins, and still others do well eating lots of red meat!. It depends on each person's individual biochemistry!.
I would say each person should put their health first and eat whatever way works best for them!. I personally believe that human beings are meant to be omnivores; to eat a variety, and of course as I said, individual bodies vary greatly in what they need to stay healthy!.
Can anyone please help me with my question!? Thanks so much!

"Meat supplements!?" Meat is not necessary for producing red blood cells and does not need to be supplemented!. Sufficient iron levels are required for producing red blood cells, but iron comes from many sources besides meat and veg*ns are not statistically any more likely to be iron deficient than meat eaters are!.
I take a vegan multivitamin/multimineral supplement because, like most people, my diet is not perfect on a daily basis!. I know for certain that there is nothing of animal origin in it because it's been certified by the Vegan Society!.
Incidentally, my dog's canines are long and pointy; mine are short and rounded!. Nature provided them to me to pierce the rinds of fruits and vegetables!. Maybe that's just me!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I know that GNC has a line of supplements tailored for vegans and vegetarians just like those who eat meat!. The vegan/vegatarian supplements contain NO animal products!. Their is a new wave of supplements that contain no animal products or by-products for vegan/vegetarian people as well as for those who are not vegan/vegetarian regardless (for athletes or otherwise)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Red blood cells!? Your body makes that on it's own!.
Perhaps you're refering to Iron!. Iron, unfortunatly must be taken in supplement form!.!.!. it's true that it's too hard to get on a vegan diet!.
My multi-vit takes care of that!. (As for Calcium, easily found in soymilks!.)
The reasons vegan don't have dairy is not so much as it comes from an animal, but what happens within the dairy industry to get the milk from the cows!. (A truly horrific process!) Vegetarians usu want to feed their pets high protein vegetarian diets but those brands are extremely expensive and don't fit our budgets, neither do we have the time to figure it out ourselves!.
Making ethical diet choices usu is a slow conversion!. Because society doesn't show us, we slowly learn it on our own how!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

well the iron in plant foods is poorly digested compared to meat!.!.!. iron is used to create red blood cells, so im assuming he takes iron supplements!. personally i prefer to just eat a chewable vitamin c pill following every vegan meal, high vitamin c content increases the absorption of iron by about 50% i believe!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I eat a healthy vegan diet and don't really need any supplements!. I do take calcium and other bone and joint supplements because there is a history of osteoporosis and arthritis in my family!. All the supplements I take are VEGAN and say so on the labels!.
