When people tell me not eating meat causes overpopulation....?!
I back that up as being false!.
because, breeders at slaughter houses only make the animals to be killed, so why would they keep breeding lets say!.!.!. an overpopulation of chickens!.
They keep getting killed, so there wouldnt be an overpopluation!.!.
am I right or wrong!?
I hate it when people have that reaction to me being vegetarian!.
Can someone back me up whether I am right or wrong!?

First of all, people breed these animals to such levels, not the animals themselves!.
If everyone stopped eating meat all at the same time, then yes, there would be an immense overpopulation of "food" animals until they all died of natural causes!. But reality is that will never happen!. And even if it did happen, it would only be a short term problem!. By choosing to not eat meat, each person saves more than a few lives each year!. You DO make a difference as an individual, even if you are only saving one life!.
Simple logic: if people gradually reduce or stop eating meat, then there is less demand to raise the "product" and therefore it reduces the population to much more sustainable (earth friendly) levels!.
Besides if these people were so concerned about overpopulation, they'd stop reproducing! (sorry, I couldn't resist)!.
Anyone who argues for eating meat to prevent an overpopulation in any species of farm animal is grossly misinformed (that's my nice word for ignorant)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Your most certainly right- as one person, you DO make a difference though!. Say, at a small local supermarket!. There are about 100 people in the town, and they each buy about 5-6 packages of meat bi-weekly!. You, refusing to buy the meat,(assuming that you were not always a vegg) are putting that buisiness at a loss, they notice less meat is being bought, therefore, they buy less meat for their store, and one less cow is murdered!. You not eating meat is a good decision!. * in reply to the 1st answer*
But anyway, about your question- your right!. You alone, are not causing an overpopulation!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Your obviously right!. Its just another thing people say to eat meat and feel okay about it!. The reason those animals are here is because they are purposly bred!.
Now if everyone stopped eating meat, yes there would be a huge population problem!. Everyone would be living longer and more resistant to illness and disease, because of becoming vegetarian!.
So ya know, maybe its a good thing theres more meat eaters out there!.!.!.it shortens the life of all the ignorant people!.!.!.!.or maybe its just the meat thats making them that way!. Who knows!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

life has its own natural cycle, birth, life, death!. those chickens would end up dying a natural death if they were not killed!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
You are 100% right!. Don't let anyone tell you different!. Humans are overpopulating the earth, but does that mean we should start killing them and eating them!? Of coarse not!Www@FoodAQ@Com
you're 1 person, you don't make a difference!.
so no, you not eating meat does not cause overpopulation, it doesn't do anything!.
Plus, for every vegetarian there is a meat eater who eats that much extra!.
edit - in reply to outa da box, no it doesn't male a difference because that person would not have bought meat anyways, so the grocery store does not need to change anything if that person would never have been a customer anyways!. economics 101, not that hard!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
