First off I want to say I 100% support what you are doing!.
Please don't listen to "Red"!.

I have been a "semi-vegitarian" for 4 years!. My reason is morals (thank you very little red!.) and the reason I eat fish still is because fish arn't held in small cages all there lives and treated unnaturally until they are ate!. Fish still swim around in there natural spots, rather they get ate later or not!. also, fish do not have the same memory span as other animals, it is very short!. Fish only have intenct not emotions, and they don't have the nerves to feel pain!.!.!.
so "Red" next time you have somthing to say, don't say it unless you've done your research!. (not to mention you were intirley rude!.)

Now, to awnser your question dear,
I am 16 and though I don't struggle with weight issues, I do my best to stay with a healthy diet!. I think you should get help if it is to hard to get it right on your own!. Express to this doctor that it is inportant to you that you have choices but know you may have to sacrifice some yummy things to become the you that you would like to be!. also, try to do some research of your own on yummy and netrishous things to eat, try to buy a healthy cookbook, or a cookbook to vegitarians! They can be so helpful!

If you need anything e-mail me at kangaroo22dancer@yahoo!.com and make the subject:yahoo answers: (so I don't accedently delete it not knowing what it is!!.!.)

Good luck hun!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, in my opinion, if you are having health problems (like being really tired) maybe going to a nutritionist would be a good thing!. And no matter what they say, it's up to you to make the dietary changes!. They're not going to force feed you!. They'll probably have good suggestions for getting a balanced vegetarian diet as well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

well being even semi vegetarian is a good start!
eat home cooked meals, don't eat fast food, it doesn't even fill you up!.
eat a lot of nuts and carrots for snacks!. stay away from junk food!.

however!. you could have an under active thyroid which is why you are overweight!.!. if you don't eat a lot of junk food or whatnot!.

so its best to go to a dietitian!. but you are off to a good start though!Www@FoodAQ@Com

ahh thats not semi vegetarian - ur pescatarian - period!.
about the doctor-- i agree with ur mother- shes worried about what ur eating maybe u need more proteins/fiber/less carbs /calcium
go to the doctor- he will tell what to do -
dont worry-

good luck -

Go on and get some help-- though I could save you some money and give you the low down right now: vegetarian or not you're better off eating fewer white foods like sugar, rice and potatoes-- on the other hand you can't eat too many greens and veggies!.

That's the way to go and though it's rough at first since you miss French fries and such you quickly get to the point where that stuff just sounds too heavy and fatty to bother with and you crave apples and seeds and such!.

Go for it! You'll feel great!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You are a pescatarian if you eat fish but no other meats (animals)!. If you are feeling tired or weak, eat more protein! there are plenty of sources of protein for non-meat eaters like all kinds of meat substitutes (soy products), legumes, lentils, nuts, seeds and whole grains!.
This may seem contradictory, but the more you exercise, the more energized you will feel!. Being overweight is never healthy and will make you more lethargic!. Reduce the fatty foods like dairy and boost your fresh fruits and veggie intake, and try to stay away from processed foods and refined sugars!.
I'm not at all a doctor, but this is what I personally have been told by them!. Give it a try, do your own research, but also it is a good idea to see a professional!. They will only ever offer you suggestions, they can't force you to do anything you don't want!.
good luck and good health to you!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Okay, first there's no such thing as "semi vegetarian" - you're a person who doesn't eat meat or poultry is all!. To be vegetarian, you will have to give up fish!. Please don't try and profess being some kind of vegetarian when you're not yet!.

Secondly, I think you're well intentioned, but your diet doesn't seem very good at the moment, from a vegetarian standpoint!. Lots of cheese and dairy produce can inhibit iron absorption for example, which might explain some of your tiredness!.

Base your diet around wholegrains, legumes, vegetables, nuts and seeds, with small amounts of dairy and egg if you must!. I'd check out the nutrition pages of the Vegetarian Society: vegsoc!.org, and vegannutrition!.org!. These will give you more solid info on veggie nutrition, and special emphasis on foods in the teenage years on a veggie diet!.

There is no reason why given a properly balanced veggie diet, you won't thrive - properly planned veggie diets are scientifically supported as appropriate for all stages of life!. But it needs to be well planned, and hopefully isn't about weight loss (I don't know if this is the case, but you mention being overweight in your question, so it may be a possibility)!.

Do some research, and talk more with your mom and a professional who has expertise in veggie diets (some don't) if need be!. With some adaptations, you should be fine!.

Ok, so let me get this straight, you're a vegitarian and you're having dietary problems, and you need to see a specialist but you don't want to be told what to eat and can't afford it!?

Here's what you do: EAT SOME DAMNED MEAT!. You're body is SEVERELY lacking in a number of the proteins and fats from meats and poultry!. It's obvious you're not doing this for moral reasons, you eat fish, and if you dare tell me that eating fish is morally acceptable while eating cows is not I will jump through this monitor and choke you!.

I swear to god!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm kinda with Red on this (even though I'm not gonna jump through the monitor for any reason at all)!.!.!.

why aren't you eating meat!? if its because of how they're treated why are you eating dairy!? why are you eating eggs!? I have horror stories about dairy that will have you never thinking of ice cream again, trust me a whole lot worse than a cow being cut into steaks for us to eat!.

try eating organic or "grass fed" humanly raised meats if you've got problems with what they do to animals!.!.

overweight, but eating french fries!.!. as opposed to filling up on protein so you eat less and aren't obese at 15, going down the road to being obese as an adult, health problems and risk of diabetes due to eating a lot of processed carbohydrates!? hmm!.!.!. makes sense!Www@FoodAQ@Com
