WHY do people judge others on CHOICE OF FOOD?!

Question: WHY do people judge others on CHOICE OF FOOD!?
I just saw several questions about people antagonizing vegans and vegetarians because of what they eat, and this is SUCH a stupid thing to judge others on!.

We judge others on appearance, sex, politics, religion- why use FOOD to discriminate!?!?!?

I am not vegetarian or vegan, but I have friends that are, and I respect the choices that they make, and I even give up meat for Lent every year, and I try so hard to incorporate veggies into meals instead of meat!.

I do not buy products tested on animals, or fur or leather or such things!.

My vegetarian friends have NEVER tried to get me to go veggie, and I have never asked them why they don't eat meat, because personal beliefs are NOT my business- especially when i could alienate others because of them!.

why do so many persist in judging others about food choice!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
People judge because "You ARE what you EAT"!.
They attack because they're IGNORANT!.

The things u say, wear and eat say a lot about the person you are!.
I've been Veg since '92 and I'm constantly being verbally attacked by near-by carnivores as soon as I start eating a salad OR something as NORMAL as a piece of fruit!!
They say dumb sh*t like,"you're gonna die anyway!.!.!." or "we got smog, so why worry about health!?" AND the most idiotic comment of ALL time, "!.!.!.we're suppose to eat meat for protein, you can get sick eating ALL vegetables!.!.!."
WTF!?!?!!

I'm a cool laid back sistah and MOST of my friends eat meat!. If you ask them, they will tell you that I have NEVER told them that they need to eat like me (or even mention eating vegetables)!.
When we go out together, we go to NICE, semi-pricey restaurants because they have a broad menu that accomodates EVERYONE'S eating style and we ALL have a good time eating out!.
We NEVER EVER attack eachother or act like one is better than the other!.

*Not to be funny or anything, but have you noticed how the animals that are carnivores are wild, vicious, aggressive, flesh-attacking beasts and the grain (and non-flesh) eating mammals are calm and non-aggressive (unless you attack their babies)!?!?
YES, the people are the same too, except for PETA, lol!.!.!.
(honestly, I don't consider PETA to be real vegetarians anywayz, but that's another story)

To "attack" someone about their lifestyle is really stupid!.!.!.
ESPECIALLY when you don't have any facts to back you up!.
Never attack!. Be intelligent and KINDLY ask questions about what u wanna know!. Spread love!.

Peace!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

One main reason I can think of, is the majority of restaurants are non-vegetarian oriented and they have/do not have choices for vegan!. Only recently have fast food giants and others have started offering vegan choices!. The problem comes when you tend to go out as a group, we are invariably forced to select a place that offers veggie and doing that means, sometimes some good non-veg restaurants need to be dropped!. I see this issue happening in my office all the time - very few vegans for religious purposes!. We make fun of them and eat their veggie pizzas even before they get to it!. :-DWww@FoodAQ@Com

People judge people based on their food choices because what we eat says a lot about what kind of person we are!. Whether it be 70 big macs or strictly veggies, what we eat directly conveyjudgmentalnt of integrity!.

What we choose to eat also says alot about our personality!. Are you brave or sissy!. willing to try something new or never want to change what you eat!.

At some level you ARE what you eat because it becomes a part of you!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I totally agree!. I commend you for coming up with this question!. I have been thinking about it for a while but I didnt feel bothered at all since I am not vegetarian/vegan!.

This I know!.!.!.anyone who discriminates or makes fun of anyone, whether it be with their nationality, religion, sexual orientation, political views, appearance, or whatever way one would reject someone to society, is plain STUPIDITY! They feed their mind with crap!.!.!.they exude crapness too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

People dislike anything they can't understand, and many people can't understand why or how any one would give up meat!. Other people have had trouble with individuals, or groups (P!.e!.t!.a!.) that for them represent all vegetarians and vegans!. Then of course there are just people who will bully anyone over anything to make themselves feel better, and the cowards can be thousands of miles away in the safety of their home when they do it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Because some people are threatened by those who are different!. If someone makes a choice that is different than theirs, they take it as that person thinks they made the wrong choice!.

Exsft your thumbs down are because you are a known points gamer who thumbs up his own answers and votes himself up as well, all on a quest for points!. You are a cheater!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't care!.

But when people call me a murderer, and tell me i should burn in hell for eating wild boar, then I get angry!.

We all have our own morals, our own beliefs!. No-one is better than anyone else, we all try to make this world as good a place as we can!.

Www@FoodAQ@Com

you're so right!.it's our to choice to be a vegetarian or a non vege!.we can't force others to follow us!.i did tell my friends to be a vegetarian but i didn't force them it's their choice to be a vegetarian or a non vege!.it's our choice to do what we think is right!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

As you commented, some people are ever ready to judge others on things that don't matter!. It's been going on as long as man has been around and I don't see it changing soon!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

there are stupid and small minded people in the world!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

i've noticed that online, people are very aggressive toward vegetarians!. im a vegetarian for health reasons, an i thenk its fine for people to eat meat, or not if they choose (i jus liek if the animals are raised an slaughtered in a humane way) but people they gat so mad at me when i talk bout how much healthier i am now, or how ive lost 25 pounds!. i thenk their feeling defensive because they have met vegetarians who rub how healthy they are in their face, or who scream at them how their evil for eating meat, and then they decide to be hurtful an prejudice to all vegetarians ? yah i dunt thenk that aneyone shud be hurtful or judgemental bout soemone 'cause of what they eat!.
its funee though, cause most people who find out in real life, they jus gat freaked out, an liek apologizing for eating meat! i try to say no no, its jus for health reasons n_nWww@FoodAQ@Com

vegetarians are just as guilty of this, if not more, look at peta for example and all the other people who protest outside of KFC, trying to tell me what i can and cannot eat!.

stop acting like your the victim, it's a 2 way street!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

You are speaking form a vegetarian's standpoint!. Many omnivores feel exactly the same way from your fellow vegetarians/vegans!. The term "preachy" vegetarian is not some concept plucked out of the air but what is experienced by many people!. Not universally but enough to form the stereotype!.

To get the other side's view and experience especially in this section, try posting an answer to a question that does not attack or insult vegetarians/vegans but simply argues for a point that is pro-meat/milk/eggs/ KFC etc !. Or something that does not follow the typical;l vegetarian/vegan mantra/line!. Then count the thumbs down that your answer gets no matter how sensible it may seem!. Your answer has a good chance of being reported in fact by the fanatics and PETA trolls that stalk these pages!.

check the asnwers and you can already see what I mean!. shows you that being judgemental is not exlcusive to one group!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
