I know it's October, but Thanksgiving is coming up...?!

Question: I know it's October, but Thanksgiving is coming up!.!.!.!?
This is my first Thanksgiving as a Vegetarian!. I've been doing really well, only one slip up!.!.!.
But when I tried in high school, Thanksgiving was where I derailed!.!.!.
I don't want to make the same mistake again, because this time it's a moral decision!.
What are some suggestions for a Veggie Thanksgiving!?

If you are going to a family gathering, you can fill up on the traditional sides: mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, etc!.

If you are preparing the meal, try a tofurkey:

There are also some great recipes on that website!.

Good luck to you!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Vegetarian Times normally does a great section on what to serve for Thanksgiving!. Last year it was a root vegetable pie so you could go to their website to look it up!.
I normally stuff a large turban squash!. If you cut off the very top and scoop out the seeds, then steam it until its a little soft, you can stuff it, put the lid back on and it looks really pretty as the "centerpiece" of the table!. Kind of makes up for the bird missing!. Surround it with roasted root vegetables and dollops of mashed potatoes!. YUM
I tried tofurkey and hated the texture and flavor!. Will never do that again!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've had many a vegetarian Thanksgiving; some have been very traditional and some not so!. I am not really big on fake meats, so sometimes I've just filled up on side dishes (you can make stuffing without any meat or meat broth and just bake it in a casserole dish, and you can make gravy with vegetable broth!.!.!. the rest is pretty easy!.) I have tried a few veggie turkey sustitutes as well!. On several Thanksgivings I have made stuffed acorn squash to compliment the host's meal!. For me, it's a hearty main dish and for everyone else, it's a tasty addition to the side dishes!. One Thanksgiving I spent with just my sister, we had lasagna!. As long as you make sure you have plenty of delicious stuff to eat (including dessert!) you shouldn't feel so deprived as to be tempted by turkey!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hey this will be my first holiday season as a veg!. too!. I will tell you what I am going to do and I hope that can help in some way!.
I am planning on enjoying all my favorites like dressing, sweet potatoe casserole, etc!. just making them vegetarian friendly!. You can eat almost anything with a few adjustments!. Plus, we are going to add some new items, try out some new recipes and making them traditional!. As far as turkey goes, I just plan on not eating it!. You can even make gravy!. You just replace drippings with oil and chix broth with veggie broth still taste yummy!. Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com
