I'm going to go vegetarian; any tips?!

Question: I'm going to go vegetarian; any tips!?
Answers:
I'm Veggie for 22 years!. I've never forgotten what various meat foods taste like!. I do it for philosophical reasons, I don't want to have anything killed for me!. I don't believe that "lesser life forms" were put here for our consumption but that they serve as our companions and deserve to live as much as us!. I occasionally get ribbed by meat eaters!. Many of them are insulted because they feel your abstaining from animals makes them look bad, like they rely on murder of animals to support their diet!. They actually have the problem and I have the clear conscious!. I feel good about myself!. At 58 I am healthy, good cholesterol, get lots of fiber in my diet and do get lots of support from my friends and family!. When going out to dinner I am often asked where I want to go, that would have something I could eat!. Many oriental restaurants have at least 1 or 2 veggie dishes, middle eastern ones have some tasty spreads that go good with pita bread!. I often settle for a salad or veggie platter!. Call ahead!. At friends houses I can get a salad, baked potato, pasta with marinara sauce, rice with margarine and veggies!. If a friend is really concerned and co-operative they will ask and if they want to go the extra mile then refer them to the net, millions of recipes!. Good luck!. And please don't kill the chicken!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Get into the habit of trying new recipes out and toying around with them!. I also suggest you check out PETA's website for other tips on going vegetarian; they'll send you a free vegetarian starter kit if you want as well!.

You'll also need to get into the habit of reading the list of ingredients on the foods you buy!. The reason this is important is because some foods may say they're vegetarian, like vegetable soup, but when you check the ingredients you see that there is chicken broth in it!.

Another important thing is that you ignore the nay-sayers!. When I first went vegan I got teased and hated on for it a lot!. But just remember that you're doing a good thing and if other people have a problem with you doing something GOOD, well you shouldn't really value their opinions should you!?

I should also mention that it is a very common MYTH that veg*ns don't get enough protein!. All valid nutritional journals clearly state that the vegetarian/vegan diet is one of the best things a human can do for his/her health!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think the most important tip is to make sure you sustain a level of protein in your body!. You need protein, and protein is found heavily in meat and eggs!. I would recommend Pistachio Nuts if you like them, they have the highest content of protein for a nut, the next being almonds!. If I were you, too, I would ease into it!. Don't just wake one morning, declare it as the day to officially stop eating meat, and go from there!. It's not a healthy thing to do (change diets quickly without easing into it)!. What I mean is start eating more nuts (or whatever you plan to substitute the protein with) and slowly lessen the meat intake!. Shouldn't take too long, just not the smartest thing to jump straight from one thing to another!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There are 2 starter guides you can order for free, which I have listed!. They have some nutritional information that you should be aware of!. If you decide not to order the guides, at the very least, start taking a vitamin B12 supplement!. I have no affiliation with these sites, they just helped me, when I made the switch!. Mark your calendar with the day you make the switch, and celebrate the day every year!. Good luck to you, I wish you the best!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

pasta, rice, and pizza will become your new best friends!.

boca "chicken nuggets" are better than the real thing!

make sure to eat enough protein - eggs, peanut butter, milk, beans, etc!.

take a multivitamin every day to get enough b12!.

most restaurants have a grilled cheese sandwich on the menu!.

be prepared to deal with people's criticism of your lifestyle choice!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

eat lots of nuts and beans, tofu as well!. also, its helpful to slowly become vegetarian, not just do it all at once or you will be more likely to quit!. taking a multi vitamin everyday its also a really good way to get any nutrition you may not be getting!. also, look up info on what veggies are high in protein and iron [spinach is one that is really good for you!]Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well vegetarians are VERY healthy!.
You can take pills to get calcium in you!.
eat yogurt, nuts, sunflower seeds!.
And salads are excellent choices!.
When going out to eat always look away from meat and also
you must eat a lot fruit too!. Or if yu eat only some meats then yu culd be called Semi-vegetarian!.
=/ And make sure you eat your vegies!.
I am going to be Semi-vegetarian cause its the best choice!.
And exercise a lot!. And if yr doing it just because yu want to be skinny and burn calories actually do it cause yu care for animals!.
(: Go Vegies!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I am 13 and one of my best friends is a vegetarian!. At school she gets teased by others and she crys all the time!. Sometimes in the canteen theres nothing for her to eat!. Her mum had to ring my school complaining!. I think you should only become a vegetarian if you're TOTALLY sure about it!. Hope I helped! Bye!! xxWww@FoodAQ@Com

I hope you have a good reason for doing so!. You have to get your protein in other ways to substitute for the lack of meat!. Do lots of research and it takes dedication!. It's really not that easy!. especially for no real reason other than you "just want to do it"Www@FoodAQ@Com
