Help from vegans please?!
Last night I read an article/watched some videos about how horribly they treat chickens and cows in order to get eggs and milk, and how they kill female cows to get an enzyme from their stomach just to make cheese!. I was a vegetarian before, but after that I want to be vegan!. I have not had any animal products at all today, and I have a headache, feel weak, and am pale!.!. I've always been thin (100 lbs at 5'7"), and am worried that going vegan might make me lose even more weight!. I'd just like some help, and some suggestions on what to eat to stay healthy!. Just tell me anything about the vegan diet: recipes, tips, etc!. Is it worth going vegan, or should I stick to my vegetarian diet!?

the same thing happened to me -- i was lacto ovo, but now am going vegan!. what i read is that they kill calves to get the rennet from cheese, which was really awful to learn, because even when i ate meat, i didn't eat veal because it's babies! imagine my shock to learn i'd been secretly eating babies this whole time!
anyhow! there are plenty of vegan foods out there that have a high fat content, if you don't want to lose weight!. and with the lack of animal products, cholesterol and such won't really be a worry!. i really like tofurkey's sausages, especially their polska kielbasa!. nuts and nut-butters are also very nutritious and have fat, and it's the good kind of fat! i don't have the same problem as you, being that i'm doing weight watchers right now, but what i would suggest is to try to find out how much fat and calories you eat over the course of a couple days, and try to find vegan foods that equal about the same, to maintain your weight!.
also, it seems to be a mixed thing on whether or not you'll even lose weight!. some people lose tons, some stay the same, and some gain!. my mom always says she's surprised i haven't lost a ton of weight just by going lacto-ovo, since she quickly lost 18 lbs when she did for a while in the 70's!
but you can always just change what you're eating, to change your results!. losing too muh weight!? maybe more peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are in order!Www@FoodAQ@Com

You're more than thin, you're really underweight!. It's great that you wanna go vegan, but I think you should stick to being vegetarian for now!. See a doctor to find the best way to put on some weight, and to see if maybe you have an underlying issue!. Once you're at a healthy weight, then look into veganism again!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
the foods that you should be eating a lot of is RAW fruits and vegetables, as they will have all of your vitamin and mineral needs!.

You should talk to your doctor!. Any dietary change will be a transition for your body, but since you're technically seriously underweight (in terms of BMI) you definitely want to let your GP know that you're making a major change in your diet!.

It definitely seems to me like you may not be getting adequate nutrition right now with your weight so low!.
go to a search engine and type in: "vegetarian tips" or "vegan tips"!. Almost every site that comes up will be filled to the brim with tips and recipes and go into in depth discussion about nutrition!.
While people say they don't become ill without using supplements, eventually they probably will if they are not very well informed about what foods have what nutrients!. And there is no plant form of b-12, I think, so that definitely needs to come from something like Nutritional Yeast!. (some Vegans eat yeast some don't, most do I'd say)
