Why are most vegetarians and vegans so mean, and self righteous towards vegetarians who eat fish or chicken?!

Question: Why are most vegetarians and vegans so mean, and self righteous towards vegetarians who eat fish or chicken!?
I always see people on here asking questions and whenever someone mentions that they are a vegetarian who eats fish, and/or chicken everyone is extremely quick to tear them down and belittle them!. Saying they are not vegetarians at all and things like that!.

Depending upon what dictionary you go by, many do consider people who eat fish or chicken to be vegetarians, but that's really besides the point!.

Why such hostility towards them though!? Aren't they doing more to help your cause then someone who eats all types of meat!? I just don't really get it, i would think you guys would be more friendly!.

I'm just saying, vegetarians and vegans complain a lot about how meat eaters are jerks to them, yet they turn around and belittle their own kind!.

I'm vegetarian and eat fish for health reasons, I do find it really annoying that people are like this, you should be encouraged in whatever way you cut any meat out! Www@FoodAQ@Com

Rhinocerouses, hippos, giraffes and elephants are vegetarian animals and they don't eat chicken or fish!. It's very simple: vegetarians eat vegetation!. Unless chickens and fish have learned to grow from trees, they're not vegetarian foods!. It's not to belittle, it's just to get the facts straight!. I would tell the same thing to a person who says they are an atheist, but they pray to a god: that they obviously are not an atheist!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Vegetarian means not consuming any and all products that an animal has to die for!. Saying you're a vegetarian while eating dead animals is just plain ignorant, false advertising, and makes true veg-heads look bad!. If someone wants to eat meat, that's fine, but I'm not okay with liars!.
People that only eat chicken are pollotarians, and those that eat fish are pescetarians!. They are NOT vegetarian, and have no right to claim such!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The point is that Vegetarian = NO MEAT, period!.
We aren't trying to belittle people, but it's just people like you with these comments, who are very uneducated, and we are trying to educate them into achknowledging the fact that there are different names for 'vegetarians who eat fish' (PECTATARIAN)!.

There is no such thing as a vegetarian/vegan who eats meat, be it fish, chicken or beef!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Because vegetarians DON'T eat fish or chicken; they don't eat the flesh of animals!. If you want to eat fish or chicken, that's your decision, but please don't call yourself a vegetarian!.

And no reputable dictionary allows for flesh-eating in a vegetarian diet!.

And eating dead animals doesn't help our cause one bit; it hurts our cause, actually!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

why are most meat eaters so mean and self righteous towards vegetarians!?

i've seen so many questions on here about vegetarians who get told off for not eating meat!.

and you can't be both anyway!.
you're either vegetarian, or not!.
chicken is still an animal!. fish is still an animal!.
what makes it different to beef or any other meat!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

What happened, did your FleshLight break from over use!?

Vegetarians don't eat fish or chicken college boy!. What do they teach you in NW Indiana!? You would thinks a Cubs fan would know better!.

There is no hostility towards them, they are just being corrected by definition!.

The vegetarians and vegans I know are just cool regular folks, you on the other hand!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Beacuse When You Tell Someone Your a Vegetarian You Don't Want To Have To Explain How You don't eat fish, chicken, beef!.
It Gets Annoying When SomeOne Tells People They're a Vegetarian When They eat Meat!.
Some People Get Confused!.
Then Real Vegetarians Get 20 mins!. Worth of questions on what they can or can not eat!.

Your either vegetarian or your not,its like saying Im a vegetarian but I have a weekness for chicken, beef, pork and fish!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Who knows - the curse of the self righteous!? You have been vindicated - see all the hostility you have created!? :-)Www@FoodAQ@Com

you are a douchebag!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

because you're not our kind!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You can't eat something from the dead and be a vegetarian!. It's as senseless as a vegan calling himself a carnivore!. There are other words for fish and chicken eaters!. I think Core has it right!. Why do they find it a big deal to use the correct words!? It's not that we're hostile!. It's just that we don't want people getting the idea that we eat fish and chicken, just like we don't like being grouped with PETA fanatics!. Just say it like it is!.

And I'm not really sure if it helps 'our cause'!. Fish and chicken are much smaller than a cow, and therefore you're not going to get as many meals out of a fish or chicken, so even more animals would be killed off if you eat them daily!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The point of being vegetarian is that there is no meat, fish or chicken in the diet!. Depending on the type of vegetarian you are, you may or may not eat egg, milk or cheese!.

It's a life choice and to eat chicken or fish means that a person is not vegetarian - despite what your dictionary might say!. It gets a bit tiresome when you ask for a vegetarian meal and are offered chicken or fish!.

I don't think people are hostile, just tired of this - it's a bit like someone who says they are Protestant attending Catholic Mass every week as a full member of the congregation or someone who says they are a committed Muslim eating non-halal meat!.

personally in my view, I don't think that if you eat white meat, then you're a vegitarian but doesn't bother me in the slightest!. I hate all the self richeous veggies on this forum, they all believe that they're better because they don't eat animals, they use words like animal corpses or carnivores!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
