Can i be a vegetarian? please help?!
I want to be a vegan because i hate eating meat, but my mum told me i cant because i need the protein!.
So at tea today she made me this chicken which iv told her a million times i hate so i refused to eat it, so now im really hungry but i can't stand eating meat!.

You don't say how old you are but I expect your mum is just worrying about whether you can be healthy without eating meat!. She can't force you to eat it and surely if she knows how bad it makes you feel she'll help you with a veggie diet!. You can get the protein you need from a veggie diet, and veggies are usually very healthy people!. If I was you I'd research it all up on the internet and show your mum you are very clued up on it all!. But for now I'd just go veggie, as going vegan is a much bigger thing, because you can't have dairy products!. Ask her to make you a nice lightly boiled egg for tea with some bread and butter, don't go hungry !

no you dont need permission!? thats stupid! i've been vegetarian since i was like 11-12 years old and my mom didnt like it but they cant make you eat something you dont want to eat! that's like if someone doesn't like broccoli they dont get forced to eat broccoli! lol and just to make a comment about an answerer from above ^ being a vegetarian IS healthy --- it all depends on what you eat! there are plenty of protein substitutes, you just have to be smart about it!. beans, lentils, chickpeas, eggs, nuts, peanut butter, etc are all great sources of protein!. I have been a vegetarian since I was 10 - am 25 now!. I am not a vegan tho, still eat all dairy!.!. I think if you go vegan you will really need to take supplements!. I am very healthy without the meat, rarely sick or anything!. When I was young my mam used to try to make me eat meat too, but i wud just eat evrything else, veg or whatever!. Do you want to be vegan or vegetarian!? Vegetarians sometimes still have milk and eggs!. Soy is a really good way to get protein!. There are alot of meat substitutes that taste great!. also you can maybe take a protein drink if your not getting enough protien!. You don't have to eat meatWww@FoodAQ@Com

You do need to get protein which can be found in beans and pulses!.

You don't really need permission, just tell your mum that you feel really strongly about not eating meat!. There a some really nice vegetarian recipes out there my favorite is the quorn stuff it's yummy!. =) And low in fat!. :)Www@FoodAQ@Com
