I really hate eating meat
but my mum wont let me be a vegetarian because she thinks i wont get the protein

I would say that a hunger strike is a bad idea!. It is immature and gets nothing done!. What you really need to do is ease your mothers concerns!. Get as much info as possible on how to maintain a healthy vegetarian diet!.
Protein is in everything, and it is rare to be protein deficient if you are eating properly!. Protein deficiencies are mainly seen in third world countries suffering from famine!. The average person only needs about 50 grams of protein per day!. A bowl of oatmeal and a glass of milk is going to give you about 12 grams, and that's just one meal!.
Some high protein foods include
soy milk, tofu, Seeds (Hemp Seeds, Pumpkin seeds, Sesame seeds, Sunflower seeds), legumes(Garbanzo beans, Kidney beans, Lentils, Lima beans, Navy beans, Soybeans, Split peas), grains(Barley, Brown rice, Buckwheat, Millet, Oatmeal, Rye, Wheat germ, Wheat, hard red, Wild rice), vegetables (Artichokes, Beets, Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Cucumbers, Eggplant, Green peas, Green pepper, Kale, Lettuce, Mushrooms, Mustard green, Onions, Potatoes, Spinach, Tomatoes, Turnip greens, Watercress, Yams, Zucchini), fruits(Apple, Banana, Cantaloupe, Grape, Grapefruit, Honeydew melon, Orange, Papaya, Peach, Pear, Pineapple, Strawberry)
As you can see there is more protein rich foods that just meat or nuts!.

Find out what other foods have protein!. I think eggs are high in protein (are you prepared to eat eggs!?) and nuts, especially peanuts!. There must be lots of other options besides meat!. Once you've done your research, present it to your mom and show her that you are prepared to eat healthily and make sure you get enough protein!. Don't go on a hunger strike!. When you get too hungry after about a day of no food, you might cave in and then your mom won't take you seriously!. I don't get when people say they arent "allowed" to be a vegetarian!. If I'd asked my parents beforehand, she would have said she'd want me to eat meat, but if you don't want to eat any, then don't!. She won't force feed you!. To get the protein you can buy multivitamins and iron tablets, and i have to have calcium tablets too, but you probably won't have to have those!. Lydia, i have two nieces that are vegetarians!. They are 17 and 19 years old!. The 19 year old has not eaten meat for about 6 years and the 17 year old has not eaten meat for almost a year!. They are both very healthy!. As long as you eat right, and take vitamins, you will be fine!. Tell your mom that you want to make a deal with her, if she gives in for a month with you not eating meat, and you last, then she should allow you to continue not eating meat!. If there is something that she dosn't like to eat, does she eat it!? Nope, didn't think so!. Whatever you do, do not stop eating, do not go on a hunger strike, it will only be worse for you, you will get sick and get very bad headaches, thats not gonna hurt your mom, only you, and then she will look at you like if you were acting like a spoiled brat!. so dont give in!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
There are tons of other sources for protein besides meat!. I'm not a vegetarian, but my roommate is and I've found ways to make vegetarian meals for both of us that we enjoy!. Try out some vegetarian recipes that you think would be good!.!.!.!.and that your mom might enjoy!. I started using those Morningstar fake meat crumbles in things like chili and spaghetti instead of ground beef!. I also eat alot of beans and dairy, which are high in protein!. Taking a vested interest in what you eat is going to go alot further than not eating at all!. Try to compromise with her and give her reasons for your decision!. I think the key here is to convince her that you are making a lifestyle choice for your health and not a hasty decision!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I was a vegetarian for 6 months, and my parents didn't really like the idea for the same reason!. But I just really would not eat meat so they started to fix more things without it!. (I did eat seafood though) You do have to make sure you get adequate protein though or you'll get sick and rundown!. No, dear, a hunger strike will only create a conflict that your mother knows that she must win!.!.!. The best thing to do is become violently ill every time you eat meat, and vomit all over the floor!.!.!. That way she will think that if anyone else saw her making you eat meat against your will they would blame her for making you sick!.!.!.

umm i dont know about hunger strikes but there are a couple of websites where you can go and ask for magazines and booklets that teach the benefits of being a vegeterian and whatnot!.

look up protein sources online, print it out and show it to her!. then she will realize there are many healthier options for you to get protein with! this will be much more effective because a hunger strike may seem immature to her and it could just make her angry!. by giving her actual information she will see that you are serious about this and will be smart and healthy as wellWww@FoodAQ@Com
