A real vegan???????????!
I was just looking at the resolved questions in this section and this person was explaining how a REAL vegan was healthier than a meat eater!.!.!.which I agree with!.
Under real vegan they put in parenthesis, not the so-called ones that eat fake meats and snacks all day long!.
My questions is!.!.!.what wrong with fake meat!? Its vegan!. Comes from nothing but plants!. I admit, i do not eat it very often, but what is wrong with eating it!. Are they just saying it is unhealthy as meat, because it has the same benefits as meat only without the extra gross stuff that is bad for your body!.!.!.so yea!.!.!.what did this person mean!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yeah, that's pretty messed up!. "Fake" meats are better than real meats in that they don't have cholesterol or the fear of the many meat-related illnesses such as salmonella, e coli or mad cow but do have more vitamins and other nutrients such as fiber!.
A meat-eater who eats a bunch of pizza and other junk isn't likely to be as healthy as a vegan who eats a bunch of pizza and other junk but that is vegan junk!. A smoking vegan is likely to be better off than a smoking non-vegan given the same type of diet and a well-balanced diet going up against another well-balanced diet with all other indicators of life being the same including environmental pollutants is still going to give the edge to the vegan diet which has more fiber and less cholesterol and saturated fats with the fats that are there being plant-based!.
One can't compare a meat diet to a smoking vegan!. But there is nothing magical in meat that makes it healthier than not eating it so it's not a super healthy vegan up against a junk eating meat-eater and vice-versa!. Just dropping meat doesn't make a balanced meat-eater into a junk eating vegan!.
However there are a few purists (in everything not just veg*nism) who believe that it's not just no animal products but no processed foods at all!.
But really "fake" meats are not fake as they are food and some are hardly processed at all especially if they are homemade!. In fact many are less processed than meat!. Better to think of them as alternatives that happen to be shaped like meat often is!.!.!. why is meat made into a burger!? That's not all that natural now is it!? Fake meat is sometimes still high in fat or calories, but it is REALLY high in sodium!. It's usually lower in fat and calories than meat, but it still isn't something you should eat everyday!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
When you read a question or answer ranting about 'fake meat' it is usually written by a troll!. So called fake meats are vegan products that are just as healthy as rice and beans, etc!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
Obviously you can still be vegan as long as you don't eat any animal-derived products!. I think what the author was talking about was that processed foods (such as "fake" meats, etc!.) tend to be less healthy than whole foods, such as fruits, vegetables and grains in their most natural (or as close to it as you can get) state!. I've often heard a joke/rule of thumb that if it didn't come from the ground or have a mother (this second part doesn't apply to vegans, of course!), don't eat it!.!.!.or eat less of it, anyway!. So I think that's what they were talking about here!.
