Is organic and cruelty free the same thing?!

Question: Is organic and cruelty free the same thing!?
Answers:
No they are not!.

This is a great question!

These labels are separate from each other!.

Something can be Organically Certified and not necessarily be Cruelty Free!.

also, something can be labeled Cruelty Free and not be Certified Organic!.

I wish they were one and the same!. Perhaps one day Organic will mean cruelty free!.

Please correct me if I am wrong but this is not the case now!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No!. Sadly you'll find that terms only mean as much as the law that regulates them!. Organic definitely does not mean cruelty free, and unfortunately "cruelty free" does not really mean anything, since it is not regulated!. For example, the term "free range" only means that a small door in a very large chicken coop needs to be open for a certain amount of time a day!. That bird in the back, cant even see the light of day, yet she can be considered free range!. Worse off, fewer and fewer USDA inspectors means its harder for the small farmer to get approval!. The best thing to do for yourself, the farmers, and the animals, is to get to know your local farmers, and buy from them!. Even in the Dirty Jerz (New Jersey) you can find fresh farm raised eggs, pork, cheese, lamb, and chicken!. The thing is, it you want to do the right thing, you have to work for it!. Look up your local Slow Food chapter to find out how!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

No! That is not the case with anything!. I know you're talking about food, but think of it this way- many companies make products that are "organic" but still test on animals!. Testing on animals is never cruelty free!.

Organically fed animals means that they are not given hormones or other unnatural food!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's only "organic" if it's CERTIFIED organic!. And certain certifications don't even necessitate that the food is truly organic!. There are "cruelty-free" chiken farms that still cut the beaks off of chickens and keep them in cages!. There is very little regulation on organic and cruelty-free!. Make sure it's certified! Organic means produced without pesticides, hormones, and other additives!. "Cruelty-free" however, is just a label that the meat and dairy industry likes to slap onto their products so that those of us who are a bit more conscious of animal suffering will still give them our money!. Quite simply!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
