Do you have difficulties with garlic sprouting once you've brought it home?!

Question: Do you have difficulties with garlic sprouting once you've brought it home!?
It seems to me that garlic is harder to keep potent these days!. Most of the garlic at the supermarket is green inside and weakened by sprouting, or it sprouts soon after bringing it home!.

Do you have suggestions either for buying it or keeping it fresh!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
When buying it, look for firm heads with the he cloves close together!. At home store it in a cool dark place!. It will keep longer!. Some people keep it in the fridge!. I don't, but I also use it up quickly!. You might try that also!.
You could invest in a garlic jar!. It's made of pottery and has holes in it that allow air in but not light!. I got my mom one and she loves it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I buy one bulb at a time which usually means it'll be used within 3 days and avoid the sprouting!. I also keep a bottle of minced garlic that I purchase at the supermarket in the fridge incase I run out of the real deal!. Even if they sprout they are still useable, most people won't even notice the difference if you don't tell them!. If you're worried about the slight bitterness of sprouted garlic chop it very fine and it won't be as noticeable!. If you're worried about potency of flavor just use more!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You can actually freeze garlic!. It works best if you can vacuum seal it when you freeze it!. I also have a jar of minced garlic because I use garlic a lot in my cooking!. When my garlic starts to sprout, I still use it!. I just cut the clove in half and remove the green "growing" portion!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

That's a problem that grows on all of us!. What I do is buy ground up garlic in a jar!. A jar of garlic usually cones in a 16 oz!. jar and should last for a good year, depending on your usage!. Once it's opened, all you need to do is refrigerate the jar!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

garlic is a summer bulb, as winter approaches it becomes bitter!. the green inside means the clove needs to be planted cos it's getting ready to sprout and growWww@FoodAQ@Com

Don't buy much fresh so no problems with sprouting!. Use a lot of powered garlic!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I go a head and plant it in a pot!.
One summer I transplanted it out doors and had garlic for yearsWww@FoodAQ@Com
