I'm vegan on every issue except I eat goat cheese due to heath concerns, is goat cheese inhumane?!
Goat farming is usually small family farms and the young do not go to veal production as calves would, but I believe are kept or sold to other farms!. I eat an organic raw local brand only!. Still cruel!?!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's definitely better than mass-produced cow's cheese!. I guess if you have to do it for your health, then you have to do it!. But you're doing very well if that's the only exception!. Keep it up!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
The only way to be 100% sure about the cheese is to see where the milk comes from, and to know what type of rennet they use!.
Since you eat a local brand, you can all them up and ask from which farms they purchase the milk, and inquire about the source of the rennet!. Then, you can visit the farms (or look them up, or call, or do some type of research), to determine the treatment of the goat, joeys (is that the term for baby goat!?), and what happens when they stop producing milk!. Then you can make an informed decision, and not rely on the judgement of, well, frankly, a bunch of yahoos!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Depends why you are 'vegan'!. if it is only for health reasons then okay!.
However if it is for the animals then why don't you eat cow cheese!?
goat cheese is the same cruelty as cow cheese!.
but you'd just be a strict lacto-vegetarian!. not vegan!. since you eat products from an animal!.
(as for other answerers!.!.!. there are such things lamb chops so lambs are still sold and killed for their meet!. even local farms sell their lambs offspring b/c if the female lamb has a lot of male offspring then they need, they sell them!.
--also!. it hurts just the same when you don't milk a cow and when your mom stopped breast feeding!. it hurts, but goes away!. it also hurts to milk them too!.!. ask a person who has breast fed their children!. Then ask them if it would have been okay for a machine to milk them for the rest of their lives!.)Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm with the guy above!.!.!. why does noone ever say what their health concerns are, I personally can't think of anything that would require you to eat goats cheese!.
I mean if you really wanted to be vegan there would be ways around it, however if you don't really want to be vegan then you are obviously just a lacto-vegetarian!. And that is fine too, it all depends on your reasons for being/wanting to be vegan!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

What would make it hurt the goats any less than it hurts cows!? The milk is still intended for their babies, not for humans!. And, contrary to popular belief, a lot of people eat goats! What do you think is going to happen to that lovely little mama goat when her milk dries up, and she is no longer reproducing!? She's going to get made into a curry!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
If you eat locally produced cheese, there is a higher chance that the goats are from smaller farms, and better cared for!. Plus, you're supporting the local economy!. =) Goats aren't used to make veal and aren't sold for things like lamb meat!. I think it should be fine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Goat cheese is not vegan!. Inhumane means different things to different people, just as cruel does!. I have no problem with people consuming dairy!.
Ever notice that nobody ever says what their condition is when they claim they HAVE to eat this or that!?
What exactly is your condition!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Vegans don't eat Goat Cheese!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
im not a vegetarian or a vegan but arent eating dairy products benefitting the cows and animals!? otherwise the cow has to hold in the milk and that is extremely painful for it!. so by eating dairy, youre helping the cow not harming it!. theres no way eating dairy can harm a cow (or other animal)!. its not like youre killing it to have the cheese!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Of course not! Veganism is inane!
Inhumane treatment or cruelty are separate issues!.
Veal calves come from cows not goats!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
