Why do restaurants turn down vegan business?!
There is a substantial vegan culture in my city!. There are a handful of restaurants that list which products are vegan/vegetarian, and meat-free appetites flock to these establishments!. So why don't some restaurants that actually do have such options advertise them!? They're missing out on good business!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Your city is unique because the average population of vegans is less than 1%!.
However, the non vegan advertising restaurants may already be doing well enough so there is no need to advertise!. In fact they may not even care to accommodate vegan/vegetarian clientele!.
Besides, some restos don't want to call anything "vegetarian" much less "vegan" because they are not sure if their food actually is vegetarian or veganWww@FoodAQ@Com

Everyone has a point, but as a former chef and now a vegetarian (lacto-ovo) it is not a matter of not wanting to, in my day we offered a number of veggie options, it is a matter of time, business practises, plus the food is prepared in the same kitchen as non vegan foods, like kosher and halal, alot of vegan would not want the dinner cooked in a pan that had chicken or fish previously cooked in, the biggest factor is most trained chef do not know what to serve a vegan/vegetarian, that is the biggest stumbling block, but there should be more places geared to the alternative cuisines, here in Canada, I live in Toronto On and we have several vegetarian places and a number of strict vegan and 2 raw vegan places too!. I have eaten at a number and was impressed with the food, I like Indian food so I eat at a vegetarian place with a buffet, you would not believe there selection!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
some people get a little nervous when they hear the word "vegan!." Case in point: I volunteer at a pro-veg organization, and they told me a story that they were getting a cake for someone's birthday at a nearby cafe!. And the server said "You know that's vegan, don't you!?" That was the reason the people at the organization were getting it!
also in my town, restaurants can get stickers for their windows that say "We serve vegan meals!." I think they're free, but even if not, it's a lot cheaper than reprinting menus!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There's no market!.!.!.do you think if another restaurant would open to compete that the few vegetarians would bring in as much money as just a traditional one!?
There are not enough vegans to support such a small demographic!. You make more money catering to the masses!. You obviously don't understand business!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Because that requires re-printing all their menues!. A restaurant may have some vegan/vegetarian options, but the amount of business they make from those few options may not be worth re-hauling their menues and what-not!. It's really simple--just ask the server about the options!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
because they don't want to spend the money reprinting their menus!. It's easy enough for you to ask if a dish is vegan or not!. Most restaurants have something on their menu that a vegetarian could eat!. Even a steakhouse!Www@FoodAQ@Com
I don't think they need to advertise them!. The vegetarians know where to go!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
Real food makes them money, they don't want people that are chewing on plants!. lolWww@FoodAQ@Com
