Will chickes eat vegetable peelings, like potatoes and carrots, if so is it good to only feed them that?!
Answers:
Potato peelings must be cooked before giving them to your chooks as they're poisonous raw!.
Chickens need a healthy diet which includes protein, ash, fibre, oils and vitamins!. A good quality layers mash/meal and pellets will provide your hens with these essential nutrients!.
Kitchen scraps can be included in their diet but should be kept to a minimum to prevent your hens getting fat and out of condition!. This can affect egg production and the health of the hen!.

They'll eat anything!. When we kept chickens in the garden we used to buy Layers Mash for them (a sort of cereal feed) which we would add to all our boiled up potato peelings & and veggie leftovers (and our neighbours' too - we used to collect them)!. They would tuck into that plus they'd scratch around for worms and insects, they'd eat grass and if they escaped from their pen and got the chance, all my flowers and seedlings as well!. We would give them chicken pellets too to supplement their feed!. That was more of a protein food - and occasionally a bag of grit to help with their eggshells!. Those chickens lived off the fat of the land and lay huge eggs for us even though in chicken terms they were old age pensioners!. I don't know how old they actually were - more than 7 years old when we inherited them as pets and we had them for at least 5 years!. They died natural deaths!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
thats ok to fee them that but they need chicken food too when u can buy from a pet shop we got 6 chicken in our garden we have a garden like a foot ball pitch!. try feeding them diffintuy kinds of food that they can eat
WHAT CHICKENS NEED (It's simple!)
1!. Grains (whole, living grains are way better than cracked, and a mixture is way better than pure corn)
2!. Greens (grass! weeds! fresh veggie parings from kitchen!)
3!. Protein (in summer, they get enough bugs -- but in colder weather they need protein supplementation, including perhaps the following: yellow-jackets from restaurant traps, soybeans -- see below, worms, milk, meat --- but sea fish is the very best)
hope this helps Www@FoodAQ@Com
