What to do wth Pumpkin?!


Question: What to do wth Pumpkin!?
Right, so this is the story!. Last evening, Himself came home from a friends house laden down with an obscene amount of pumpkins!. "Now" says he!. "There you go love, I'm sure you'll find some use for these!." After my eyes had dried out from staring evilly at him for about ten minutes I thought that at least some of the pumpkins could go towards our Hallow e'en efforts!. So, this morning for the first time ever, myself and the over excited small people carved some very lopsided faces on 3 of the pumpkins!.
My question here is what do I do with pumpkin flesh!? They really only became the norm here a few years ago and only for carving faces in so I'm stumped and I just know Himself is taking perverse delight in that alone!. I'd love to have some veggie recipes for pumpkin!. So tell me please, how do cook with it and is it just for savoury purposes or can I make something sweet out of it too!?

Pumpkin Pecan Pie

3 eggs, slightly beaten

1 c!. cooked pumpkin

1 c!. sugar

? c!. dark Karo syrup

1 tsp!. vanilla

1 tsp!. cinnamon

? tsp!. salt

1 unbaked pie shell

1 c!. chopped pecans

Combine eggs, pumpkin, sugar, Karo syrup, vanilla, cinnamon and salt!. Pour into unbaked pie shell!. Top with pecans!. Bake 350 °F for 40 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean

My grandmother used to put them in water and boil the pieces for a bit and then add brown sugar to them and continue cooking 'till soft!. We ate the flesh in a bowl with a little milk!.I understand they can also be baked also with brown sugar!.Here we make the regular pumpkin pie filling and then put it in a blender and add ice cream - vanilla!. The only thing I have heard of is pumkin pie!. I assume its pastry like you would make an apple pie!. I have never eaten it so I dont know what its like!. I think recipes for pumpkin are scarce!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There are so many things to do with pumpkin such s soup, pie, pumpkin butter for toast, roasted pumpkin seeds are also a nice treat and very healthy for all the family!. My children and |I always had a pumpkin fight in the kitchen with the pumpkin pulp after carving!. We had such fun and then the kitchen got i good fall cleaning with all of us pitching in!.

For a truly delicious pumpkin soup that is easy to make!.
Chop up the pumpkin flesh!. (Take out the seeds)!. Chop three large onions and soften in a little butter!. Add the pumpkin flesh, some salt, ground black pepper and two chicken stock cubes and a dollop of tomato ketchup, for the colour!. Cover in water and bring to the boil and then leave to gently simmer for around 20/25 minutes!. When it's cooked, mix the soup until smooth!. Then add lots of fresh, finely chopped parsley!. You can use frozen chopped parsley!. If you like you can add a pot of cream to the soup!. This will make it even more unctuous!. This soup needs to be
thick!. You can also make some croutons, by frying cubes of white, crustless bread in a litle butter, until they are golden!. Heap some croutons on the soup and serve!. This is one of our favourite Winter soups!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
