Should humans eat meat?!
I know this question has already been asked here multiple times, but I like having my own personal answers, so I apologize in advance!.
I wish I knew the right answer to this question!. It seems that as a result mainly due to technological advancements, human intelligence, and modernization that humans have accomplished in removing themselves from the earth's food web altogether!. We grow our own produce on farms and raise our own livestock!. Hunting has become a passion, wheres it used to be vital to our survival!. This is an assumption and I know humans are indeed animals, but in many ways we differ!. Maybe it's just because we are more advanced in some aspects!. Humans have a choice to not consume meat unlike other animals that must in order to survive!. Shouldn't we then be abstaining from eating and using meat products and attempting to never kill any living thing!. It just seems so hard not to!. Stepping out of your home, you may step on a bug; dead!. But is that okay, because it was unintentional!? And what about plants!? They're living, aren't they like animals and us!. What makes it correct to eat them as opposed to animals!? Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
OK!.!.!.!.I am not in any way against Vegetarians, that is their choice, so please don't take me wrong!. As human animals, we are built to eat meat!. We, humans, have "canine" teeth, those sharp, pointy ones that are both top and bottom!. Those teeth are there for a reason!.!.!. tearing flesh (eg!. meat) We are animals and just happen to be at the top of the food-chain, so I really don't see where technology should have a "say" one way or another in the whole "eat-meat/eat-only-vegetation" argument!. Technology benefits both sides of the argument!. There are more people in the world to feed than ever before!. Technology has only made it easier to to so!. It grows and harvests (there's gonna be lots of comment on that term) more animals, just as it is used to grow and harvest more vegetation than ever before!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Plants don't have the neurological structures to sense pain, so they cannot suffer!.
Plus we need them to survive!.
Animals, however, do sense things just like humans!.
As for your question, it's really a choice!.
Some think we should!.
And some think we shouldn't!.
I really don't believe there is a right answer to that question!.
Edit: To Luke: being a vegetarian isn't all about eating grass!.
In that case, we would die!. But it's much more than that!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I eat meat because I believe it would be unhealthy to not eat it!. I think we still have a long way to go before we can completely replace the health benefits of having meat in our diets!. The "what's your source" link explains it a little better!. They are studying kids in this instance, but similar research studies and results have been conducted on adults as well!.

eat whatever you want!.
i have been vegetarian w/o any sort of meat for 7 yrs!.
and vegan for almost 3 months!.
i am perfectly healthy and don't need suppliments!.
so it is safe to say that you can get the same nutrients in meat or vegetables!.
so make your own conclusion based on how you feel not what you think we were supposed to do!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The only reason why we eat meat is cause it tastes good (Or you might be allergic to beans and nuts)

But killing another animal for food is not necessary in today's society!. We live just fine, in fact BETTER, without meat in our lives!. So the answer is No, humans should not eat meat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Show me 1 untouched tribe or group of people in the world that have chosen over time to become vegetarians without outside influence!.
You can't, because one does not exist!.
Eating meat is natural !. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Noone can generalise for anyone!. Consumption is a choice!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
You bring on a very interesting question!. On the one hand, meat has some very beneficial properties, but on the other hand, we can certainly find those in non-meat sources!. You must remember that even when we were hunter/gatherers, we were not always able to have meat available to us and yet we survived and were a hardy people!.
While you suggest that we might be different from the animals in that we can choose to not eat meat, on the same token we can use that freedom of choice to choose to eat meat!. Unfortunately, in many meat-heavy societies, there is an influx of disgusting meat (adrenaline-pumping, hormone/antibiotic-injected, living-in-its-own-feces meat) that is widely available for purchase; most notably through the fast food window!. Because people as a whole convince themselves that they are "too busy" to make their own meals in a way to justify their laziness, they use this fast food meat as a crutch for their lack of knowledge in the realm of nutrition!. This is not to suggest that people who eat meat are idiots; but rather that most are too concerned with convenience than anything related to what's in their meal and how it got there!.
But again, that is our freedom and right as humans that differ from animals in some aspects!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

i see there are already lots of answers so just goin to add that u are looking at things in a very black and white point of view!. There is a whole spectrum of possibilities!. Killing one person is not as bad as killing 20 ppl!. and just the same with causing animals and insects suffering!. even if u cant help some of it does not mean that you should not minimize the damage u cause!.
also just because something is natural does nto mean its moral!.
and just because something is an effort to do does not make it not worthwhileWww@FoodAQ@Com

you wrote so much! i have caught a point and i want to tell abt it!. you said that even when we eat vegs and friuts, some cruelty is committed too!. i was thinking abt this earlier too!. i discovered that, naturally, all the trees are happily growing, and producing fruits, that are supposed to be picked ( if we don't pick and take them, they will fall and rot)!. so the fruits give themselves to us, we commit no imbalance!. and it's same with some of the vegetables, and also the dry fruits and seeds!. we hurt nobody, not even a plant!.
leafs - plants might be hurt if we pluck the leafs and eat them, but some plants( few ) can't devellop if some leafs are not plucked out!. so we can eat those leafs guilt free!.
onion and garlic also, has to be plucked out too ( from what i have heard, i might be wrong here )!.
milk - milk is for animal, true, but i'm not sure how much for human!. but naturally even consuming milk from happy free cows with no kids, we should not be hurting anybody!.
so there are many vegetables and fruits ( with this adding the processed oils and spices too ) that we can naturally, guilt free eat them without hurting absolutely anybody!.
I believe that, when it comes to animal killing, the most important thing to keep in mind is the amount of suffering that the animal is taking for your "pleasure" and "taste buds"!.
all the cows and ckicken grown in farms live a life of hell and they are in pain all the time!. so, whether you kill them or not, the sin is already big!.
but if one hunts a wild animal that, untill that day, has happily lived in the forest with the other animals, then killing it would mean a lesser sin!. why!? in this case, there is less suffering!.
and plants do suffer too, there is some interesting discoveries done!. but i will not tell further!.
Environmentally speaking, the ideal way is for people to live on fruits, seeds, cereals and vegetables!. it also clears out any kind of suffering, even from the plant!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Meat is a very good source of protein and iron, both of which are essential for good health!. And yes, you could perhaps get it from vegetables but you would have to eat ten times as much to get the same quantities of iron and protein!. also, have a look at your teeth!. See your canine teeth just along from your front teeth!? They are also known as "dog teeth" and are designed to tear flesh!. Humans are omnivores which means we are designed by nature to eat meat and vegetables!. Yes, you have the choice to eat what you want, but according to nature's design, you have been built to eat both!. The choice is yours but personally I couldn't live without a good casserole, roast or grilled meat and lots of lovely vegetables to go with them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
There is no yes or no to this question!. It depends on a person's moral standing with taking another life to benefit their own!. Some people do not accept that and other people do!.
Of course it's okay to step on a bug if you didn't mean to!. Accidents happen!.
"And what about plants!? They're living, aren't they like animals and us!. What makes it correct to eat them as opposed to animals!?"
Plants don't have central nervous systems and brains meaning they do not feel pain and they do not suffer like how animals do!. also, they are not aware of their existence like humans and animals are!.
LUKE:
I only eat plant foods!.!.!.!.and I'm not dead!.
SUE:
That is false!. You do not have to eat lots and lots and lots of vegetables to get the protein you need!. Broccolli and spinach are very high in protein, and so is soy!.
The "canine" teeth thing is a myth too!. Canine's teeth are long and pointed, usually much longer than their other teeth!. Most of our teeth are flat and broad!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

yep what you said is what is wrong with all vegan/vegetarian arguments!.
humans are omnivores, meaning we eat both plants and animals!.
if we we're meant to only eat vegetables then we would be able to get all the nutrients to live off of from plants!. but as it stands if you eat only meat or only vegetables you will eventualy get sick and die!.
being vegetarian is false morality, the animals die whether we eat them or not - get over it!. eating meat is not murder, not any more then a rabbit is murdering the plants it eats!. eating meat is the reason why you and me are here, our parents wouldnt have been able to reproduce by just eating grass!.

So, you ask a lot of questions!. The way you wrote your question seems like you've already made up your mind, but why not!?
First, should humans eat meat!?
I hate the word "should" because it implies things like entitlement, right and wrong, and a whole lot of other things about the way the world is!. I don't think people should eat meat!. I don't think they shouldn't!. I believe people are entitled to make their own decision!. I wish people made fully informed choices rather than going along with the status quo, but if they don't want to that's their choice!.
You took a HUGE leap in your thought process that I don't really understand!. Where do you get from the agricultural revolution to "shouldn't we stop eating meat and avoid killing all things!?" I don't understand it!. The fact that we have a choice in the matter does not equate to obligation to choose one way or another!. Ever!.
As for not killing anything, only the Jains really make the effort!. Even they fail!. The only way to avoid killing other things is to kill yourself!. Sorry!. Microbes, fungi, germs, bacteria, plants, insects, etc!.!.!. you're going to kill them simply by sitting still and inhaling and exhaling!. Every animal is in one way or another a little death machine, and some plants are as well!.
Living things require other living things in order to live!. Sometimes they just need to damage the other living things (like a caterpillar eating a leaf) and sometimes they need to kill them (like a bear catching salmon)!.
If you look at all lives as being equal in value, then it doesn't much matter!. You and the carrot have an equal right to live!. If you don't eat the carrot, you die!. If you do eat the carrot, the carrot dies!. While animals probably wind up destroying more living things in their attempt to remain alive, they still have a "right" to do so!. They have a right to live, just as other animals and plants have the right to consume them eventually!.
Anyway, the biggest problem with your question is that it assumes that the issue of meat consumption centers on the question of whether it is okay to kill animals or not!. Very few people who have been vegetarian long, or done a bit of research into the subject, are vegetarian simply because they believe it's wrong to kill animals!. Many are vegetarian because of the reduced damage to the environment, objections to the way that animals are treated on large commercial (factory) farms, and benefits to their health!.
Hope this at least gave you some more insight into the question!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
