Honestly, it's been proven that a vegetarian diet, if maintained properly, will supply the body with all needed nutrients and vitamins!. Make sure you eat a variety of different vegetables, nuts, and fruits, because different foods contain different nutrients!. For example, broccoli is a great source of calcium, and nuts and legumes are great sources of protein and iron!.

If you think you're not getting enough of certain vitamins it may benefit you to speak to your family doctor!.

If you do end up needing to take supplements, you can get the vitamin gummy!. I can't remember the brand off hand, but there is a brand that uses a seed instead of an animal product to create it!. This will not only get you the nutrients you need, but it's veggie-friendly!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There is no nutrient in meat that cannot be obtained in a vegetarian source!. Just like a diet that includes meat you need to balance and eat properly!. Make sure you are eating a wide variety of food(whole grains, fruits, veggies, seeds, nuts, etc)!. When eating veggies make sure you are eating every color(greens, red, yellow)!. Different colors means different nutrients!.

Pills will never give you the same thing as actual food, and most professional say that getting the real thing is much better!. Some vegetarians(just like some meat eaters) will take a multivitamin as a precaution, b/c lets face it we don't always choose the apple over the potato chips, but as long as you are eating a balanced diet you should not need a pill!.

If you do choose to take a vitamin, a good multivitamin is all you will need!. It is a myth that vegetarians have to take a truck load of pills to be healthy!. If you balance your diet to include all the needed vitamins and minerals you will not need a vitamin!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, if you listen to meat-eaters then you'll have to swallow huge steak and burger shaped pills to get your protein, iron and calcium (!?!) among other things!.

But, you'll do just fine, and usually better than the omnivore, with a balanced vegetarian diet!.

The only one you might worry about is as a vegan and that's B12 and perhaps vitamin D but those it turns out are issues for those who consume flesh too and in fact most who suffer are omnivores!. B12 can be obtained with sublingual tabs (under-the-tongue instead of pills) and D is the sunshine vitamin!.

EDIT TO ADD: links to nutritional tables so you can get an idea of all the plant-based nutrient sources:

And some on D and B12:

It is far, far preferable that you get your nutrition from food!. And perfectly possible and simple to do so as a vegetarian!. Google the vegetarian food pyramid and follow it!. Better yet, read "The New Becoming Vegetarian" by Brenda Davis and Vesanto Melina; both are registered dietitians and their book is pretty much the bible of vegetarian nutrition!. Only you know whether you are capable of eating a healthy enough diet to forego a multivitamin, but people do every day, vegetarian or otherwise!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You don't need to, but sometimes its a good idea!.
It depends on how you react to being vegetarian!. I hate taking pills too, I'm usually okay, but every now and then my iron gets kinda low!.

No, you don't need pills!. A vegetarian diet has all the nutrients that you need!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You need to take B-12!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, most vegetarians and vegans have to take vitamin pills or else they get sick!. If you have a problem with swallowing pills then you would be much better off continuing to eat meat!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
