Experimental (mostly)vegetarian diet?!
On the insistence of my girlfriend, I am going to try a vegetarian diet for 1 month!. This is a big change for me because I have been eating a low-carb, mostly animal-based diet for years!. I have also tried many different diets to learn more about how my body responds!. I want to do it as an experiment to see how it changes my body if any!.
I am going to do a blood test before and after!.
My diet would be a 55%carb/30%protein/15%fat
My major sources of carb: wild rice, sweet potato
protein: beans, legumes, milk, cheese
fat: oilve oil, nuts
I am going to keep my exercise regimen the same and see if the diet has any effects on my muscle mass and bodyfat!.
Has anybody tracked their body when they changed their diet!?
Am I giving the vegetarian diet a fair chance using the above foods!? Do you have any suggestions, improvements, tips I could use!?
I am starting on sat Nov 1st ending Nov 29th!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Fabulous question, you get a star!.
"Has anybody tracked their body when they changed their diet!?"
I switched to a vegan diet because I became disabled in the Marines and didn't want to be drugged up to manage the pain!. I read about this alternative in a book and gave it a shot!. While I never checked my blood, cholesterol, or blood pressure (they've always been fabulous), I did notice that it helps manage the pain!. I also have a lot more energy, my skin and hair positively glow, and I'm more!.!.!.uh!.!.!."regular" because of all the fiber!.
One thing to note, especially since you too are concerned, is my change in muscle mass!. Before my injury, I was an avid weight lifter with aspirations to compete in professional bodybuilding!. After this happened, I still went to the gym but was having a hard time coping with how SLOW my progress was!. However, after becoming vegan, I noticed I was able to make more progress in the gym much quicker!. My gains in size and strength are just amazing to me!. I was an easy gainer before and it all seemed to go away once I got this condition!.!.!.but now, I feel like I'm back to how I was!. While my condition is not cured and always affects me, I learned that my muscles are responding much better on this vegan diet!. When I was bodybuilding, I had done a lot of research on proteins, including vegan sources, so it was no big deal for me to switch it up!. Complete sources for you are eggs, dairy, soy, quinoa, amaranth, hemp seed, and buckwheat!. Incomplete sources are missing one or more essential amino acid, but with a well-rounded diet you will have NO trouble forming a complete protein!. Legumes (beans and peanuts) and grains will make a complete protein, but do not need to be eaten in the same sitting!.
"Am I giving the vegetarian diet a fair chance using the above foods!? Do you have any suggestions, improvements, tips I could use!?"
I'm glad you asked because I was going to give them anyway!. Your diet seems rather limited, actually!. A vegan is someone who eats no animal products, including dairy and eggs, and even I have more variety in my diet!. One thing I love about being vegan is that it gives me an excuse to try all the veggies I never tried before!. They'd just rot in the fridge before I ever got around to eating them!. Use this as an opportunity to do the same!. Your vegetarian diet should consist of a huge variety of veggies, fruit, legumes, nuts, grains, eggs, and dairy!. There should be no "major source" or "minor source!." There should be no staple in your diet!. It should be varied and contain a multitude of nutrients!. I blame my variety for the reason that I've never craved meat or other animal products; my body is getting all the nutrients it needs!.
When people limit themselves like you're doing, not only will you find the change difficult and unpleasant, but you'll also experience negative things, like headache, nausea, and a general feeling of malaise!.
For suggestions, I recommend eating as much as you can that's raw!. Don't worry about going out of your way to consume raw foods; rather, add more raw foods to what you're already eating!. For example, if you're having a sandwich, don't just use lettuce and tomato!. Try using hummus instead of a sandwich spread and top with spinach, tomato, cucumber, sprouts, bell pepper, carrot, etc!.!. Things like that!. Why raw!? The enzymes living in the food are killed by the cooking process!. These benefit you, most notably by making your food easier to digest and be better utilized by your body!.
I am very interested to see how you do on this!. Please email me if you have any questions, as it seems that you and I are similar in thought process and our goals (I see you do not allow email, but my direct email address is listed on my profile!. The part that is cut off is @gmail!.com)!. While it wasn't a significant other that pushed me into it, I did start veganism on a whim, figuring I had nothing to lose but could have things to gain!. My email address is listed on my profile page!. I would like to see your change in muscle mass as well!. Be inspired by some of the pictures on www!.veganbodybuilding!.comWww@FoodAQ@Com

Be careful with the amount of dairy esp!. cheese and use the low fat versions where possible!. When I turned veggie I made the classic mistake of using cheese too much to replace protein and gained weight!.Try tofu but try and get the freshest you can - oriental supermarkets are great for this!.Best of luck and hope it becomes a away of life!.
