Dr!. Spock the celebrated pediatrician recommended that all children be raised on a vegan diet after being weaned!.

According to surveys 3% of children between the ages of 8 to 18 are vegetarian which is triple the amount ten years previously!. The same percentage of adults are also though as many as 10% say they are but eat occasional fish or chicken!. That means that lots more teens (and visiting adults) would eat vegetarian/vegan (veg*n) if they had the option even if they are not full veg*n themselves especially on those days when the main entrees are beef or pork based (which many religions frown upon)!.

Here's a bit on the history of the School Lunch Program which is important to know as it's against the rules to serve a meal without certain characteristics which is why they insist you take milk or meat even if you aren't going to consume it and will only throw it away!. A balanced veg diet might even lower their trash costs (then you can get on them to have veggie and worm composting as part of an environmental and science project -- maybe even squeeze economics in there):

also, just as a point, Fish & Seafood are not vegetarian!. An omnivore diet that limits meat consumption to just fish is called pescetarian but that is not a vegetarian diet!. However, a pescetarian would choose vegetarian meals over beef, pork or even poultry filled meals or even yogurt with gelatin (which is often promoted as the veggie alternative in schools even though the gelatin makes it not vegetarian)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
