Question: Would a Vegan us a wig made of human hair!?
Just a question I haven't seen before!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
If the hair is willingly given, then there's no reason why a vegan shouldn't wear a wig made of human hair!.

Vegans are vegans to minimise their contribution to animal suffering and exploitation!. Where no exploitation is involved, there can be no objection!.

BUT concern about ethically-sourced human hair is not confined to vegans or vegetarians!. Many people, whatever their dietary choices, will want to make sure that the hair is not from, for example, prisoners in some countries who are forcibly shaved so their hair can be sold, or people living in grinding poverty in Asia who have sold their hair for a pittance so that some charlatan can make a huge profit from it - and yes, these things do happen, and hair for wigs is sourced in that way!. Vegan or not, that should be a consideratioin when looking for a wig

Nobody can have any objection to an ethically-sourced human hair wig, for example one from thecancer charity Locks for Love where people have voluntarily donated their hair out of compassion, or where someone has voluntarily sold their hair for a decent price!.

Interestingly though, most human hair for wigs comes from Asia, and much of it will not have been donated voluntarily and/or obtained without exploitationWww@FoodAQ@Com

Well, if she's vegan for reasons to reduce the exploitation of animals, I don't see why humans would be much different!.

I hear that the human hair that comes from other countries is predatory towards the folks (usually women) who provide it!. I hear that they're not compensated well!.

I grapple with this on ocassion!.!.!.I like to get "glam" sometimes when I go out partying and I like to use fake eyelashes!. I don't get the human hair ones!. I just cannot bring myself to do that!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Vegans stay away from things like leather and fur because they are worried about the animal!.!.!.they don't like the fact that their coat was made from something that had to be killed!.

Human hair wigs/extensions, however, are donated and 100% pain-free!. These would be perfectly fine to wear, but do the research to make sure where it came from!. When I had long hair, I cut it and donated it to Locks of Love, which makes wigs for cancer patients!. I sure as hell hope that someone used my long, curly locks!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sure, a Vegan can use a wig made of human hair!. Because for some reason people don't think that we are animals!. So in that case its perfectly acceptable for a Vegan to use human hair wigs and hair extensions!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, because technically a vegan can eat a human and still be vegan!. It's all about the animals for them!. I have a friend who's vegan and we discuss this all the time haha!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes: human hair made into wigs is donated voluntarily - there's no exploitation involved!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

because animals have no choice in their fate when we eat them and what not, but with a human it is their choice to give up their hairWww@FoodAQ@Com

Well if the human hair was given with consent of the donor I don't think it would be a problem!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

As long as you dont eat it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes!. Humans are not included in the formula!. It's no different than breast feeding!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Seeing as how nobody sane eats people, I should imagine so!.
