Vegetarian meals for carnivorous animals?!
With all the available choices today, shouldn't it be possible to create vegetarian meals for carnivorous animals!?
For example, ferrets!. I know ferrets are strictly carnivores, and any change in that will leave them sickly!. But can't we make food that tastes like meat (such as tofu) and is packed full of the same vitamins and minerals the animal would get from the meat!. Then it wouldn't make a difference, would it!? They get the nutritional requirements, the taste, but with no suffering attached!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It probably wouldn't work!.
For humans, there's a great deal of psychology in how and what we eat!. We are societally programmed to eat meat and dairy, in spite of our digestive systems being closer to those of herbivorous animals!. There's a huge psychological element to eating meat--well, eating anything!. Notice how many events in human societies center around food!. This is why there are so many analogues--to give people taste and texture without the cruelty, cholesterol, saturated fat, hormones, and antibiotics!.
Non-humans on the other hand eat for survival!. I doubt my cat thinks much about anything except filling her stomach when I give her a can of food!. She's terribly curious about what I eat, but then that's feline curiosity!.
Scientists are working on methods of culturing meat in laboratories using a few muscle cells from animals!. I wonder if carnivorous creatures, such as cats and dogs, would be able to eat it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There IS vegan pet food!. However, in the case of cats, a vegan diet isn't recommended because they are one of two obligate carnivores in the animal kingdom (spiders are the other)!. They require taurine, an amino acid found only in meat-lack of it can kill them!.
I must agree, though, that there seems little point in subjecting animals designed by nature to eat meat to a vegan diet!. I know my cats still hunt even though they are well fed-it's hardwired into their DNA!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

And what would the point be!? These are animals, not people!. They have evolved to eat a certain way and to deny them that would be cruel!. As a vegetarian, I can tell you that there is an incredible amount to supplementing that one must do to make up for the loss of animal products in your diet, that is because we have evolved to be omnivores!. And at best I only see a handful of truly healthy vegetarians and vegans out there that are serious about proper nutrition!. There are more than vitamins and minerals to consider, there are fats, fiber, acids, water content, texture etc!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
Tofu is not the same as meat!. They need meat-based protein to thrive!.
Want a cruelty-free animal!? I reccomend a rat!. They make good pets, however they do thrive when given small amounts of organic plain yogurt in addition to seeds, fruits, and veggies!.
Chickens believe it or not also make excellent pets!. They have the mental capacity of a dog without the cruelty-laden diet!. However I do reccomend supplementing their diet with freeze-dried meal worms! LOL LOL I hope that isn't too much!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Why would you get a pet then try to change the way it would eat if it was not your pet to begin with!? Get a rabbit or some other vegetarian animal if feeding meat goes against your personal beliefs!. Or better yet, don't get a pet at all!.
For that matter, we can make meat to taste like vegetables and add the same nutrients!. would it be then okay to force vegetarians to eat them!? Then there would be no abuse and exploitation of farm workers!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

It doesn't work like that!. It works for humans because we're omnivores, not carnivores!. A carnivores digestive system is different from an omnivores, just as a herbivore is different from both an ominvore and carnivore!.
If you really "Luv thy pet", you should concentrate on it's happiness, not trying to change it's nature to suit your own happiness!.

carnivorous animals do not produce the enzymes necessary to digest vegetable protein, so they have to eat some meat to survive!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
Why would you think that an animal that is made to eat and digest meat only would suffer from eating it!? Or are you worried about the prey!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
very wrong!.!.!.!.their systems are that way for a reason and can not be changed without ill effects to their health!.!.!.
the same reasoning for the human being fed meat products!.!.!.!.!.has bad effects on the system!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
