What are some ways to make bananas taste better for someone who wants more of them in his diet?!


Question: What are some ways to make bananas taste better for someone who wants more of them in his diet!?
I don't like the texture, and not much on their taste either!. The more expensive varieties at the market are even more gross-tasting - greener or more of a "wang" or something!. And they spoil so fast, that it seems they only have one day where they taste "okay" - one day late and they are just awful!. Any suggestions!?Www@FoodAQ@Com


Answers:
The primary nutrients in bananas are protein and potassium!. I'm sure you have your favored sources of protein-here are some potassium rich foods:
dried fruits-raisins, prunes apricots
fresh fruits-strawberries, oranges, watermelon, cantaloupe
veggies-beets, greens, spinach, peas, tomatoes
Beans
Turkey, beef and fish

Rather than eat something you don't like, why not find the same nutrients in something you do like!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Be careful of those other "greener" varieties - they may turn out to be plantains, in which case they have to be cooked not eaten raw!.

Have you tried dried bananas - I don't mean the brittle yellow slices but the whole, brown ones that are about four inches long and kinda chewy!? The flavour and texture is very different to fresh bananas but the nutrients and fibre are still there!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Why would you want to eat more of something that you don't like!? You can get the same nutrients from other foods!. Anything that significantly alters or covers the taste of the banana probably also changes the nutritional benefits rather dramatically!. A banana is good for you, but a banana split isn't really all that healthy!. Just find something else that gives you the same nutrients that you want!. :-)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Put them in your cereal or on your pancakes!.

also eat them with peanut butter that's really good!.I usually eat peanut butter and banana sandwiches you can hardly taste the banana!.

make a smoothie out of bananas!.!.try strawberry and banana!. There are also of combos you can do with this!.

Enjoy the wholesome goodness of my world famous carrot banana bars:

Three large bananas, mashed smooth
2 generous cups grated wholesome carrot
2-1/4 cups flour (I used 1 cup white, 1-1/4 cup wholewheat)
1/2 cup oil
3/4 cup light brown sugar
1/2 tsp crushed/powdered cardamom seeds
1 TBS baking soda
1/2 cup raisins
1/4 tsp salt
DIRECTIONS
Preheat 350F
Fit an 8" square cake pan w/parchment paper then grease
Combine flour, salt, cardamom, sugar and baking soda in large bowl
Mix in bananas and oil, just till moist
Fold in wholesome carrots and raisins
Bake 45mins or until tests done
Cool in pan for 10 mins
Cool on wire rack
Frost with cream cheese frosting if desiredWww@FoodAQ@Com

Chiquita advertises selling their Bananas in a resalable container!. I have not seen them in my store!. They have the Bananas in a four-six pack instead of a full bunch!. Try mixing them with peanut butter or pudding!. You can Make Banana Nut Bread Yum! Yum!

How could you NOT like bananas!?! lol JK! Not everyone has to like them, I just don't understand that whole concept because I like them so much!! OK! My daughter cuts them up, puts whipped cream & sprinkles on them & then she eats them! I always steal a piece or two from her when I tell her to look over there & they are good! Try it, you might just like it! How about cutting them up & putting them in cereal!? That's good too! Chocolate covered bananas are also good! My mother used to make this delicious banana bread when I was a kid! I'll see if I can get the recipe from her! Good luck! Why do you feel you need more bananas in your diet!? There are better ways to get the nutrients you need!.

I'll second (third!?) the peanut butter and banana sandwich!. Get some Suzanne's Ricemellow Fluff (available at natural foods stores or online), and you can make yourself a fluffernutter!.

Make a banana split or slice into a bowl of soy ice cream!.

Mix in a smoothie!.

And see if you can buy smaller bunches of bananas to avoid them going bad!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Cook them in their skins slowly on the BBQ!.!.!.!.they come out all warm and mushy and full of sweetness and goodness! ( see us Aussies REALLY do throw everything on the barbie!! )

One of my fave things to do, is to add a little brown sugar and orange juice together in a pan, and cook your banana over a low heat until it goes a little soft!. Add a bit of ice cream and ooooh la la!!

Or might I get cheeky and suggest frozen bananas and a willing participant! lol!.!.!.!. ( C'mon Kentucky!.!.!.someone had to go there! LOL )Www@FoodAQ@Com
