If you're eating in a restaurant things like risotto and soups will often have a meat stock base!. Even things like dolmades often have stock in them as well!. Just check with the waitress!. Japanese food too always seems like a lot of vegetarian, but bonito flakes are used in just about everything, or will be a main ingredient of the sauces!. Same goes for Thai food, there's lot of vegetable dishes, but the pastes will likely contain shrimp paste!.

And if you buy meat substitues - or any vegetarian pre-made product really, always check the ingredients!. Veg doesn't always mean healthy and some of these things are a bit of soy protein with a million disgusting chemicals to flavour, colour and bulk it out!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Eating vegetarian is a real culinary adventure!. Once you’ve broken out of the conventional meat-and-two-veg, you can break all the rules, or stick with more familiar tastes if you prefer!.
Many of your favourite dishes, such as spaghetti bolognaise, chilli, stir-fry and curries can be made with soya mince, pulses or just vegetables!. Bean burgers, pizzas, veggie sausages, ratatouille, baked beans, scrambled eggs, jacket potatoes, many cheeses and all sorts of ready meals, pasta sauces and soups are all suitable for vegetarians already!. A few recipe ideas are shown on the following pages, but before you start cooking, fill your cupboards with the right basic ingredients and you’ll find the transition much easier, and tastier!.

The Vegetarian Store Cupboard
Most people keep a few stock items in their kitchen cupboard or freezer!. Many of the basics – bread, flour, vegetable oil, dairy products, free-range eggs, frozen chips etc – will be suitable for vegetarians, but you may find it helpful to use the following as a guide for your first big shop as a new veggie!.

?Dried pasta
?Rice

?Houmous
?Vegetarian pesto
?Tofu (look out for marinated or smoked varieties)
?Tomato puree
?Mustard
?Quorn products (look for the Vegetarian Society approved products)
?Jars of sun-dried tomatoes or other antipasto (mushrooms, olives, artichokes or peppers in seasoned oil)
?Fresh soups, pies and ready-meals

TO KEEP IN THE FREEZER
?Soya and Quorn mince or chunks
?Vegetarian sausages and burgers
?Ready rolled pastry
?Pizza bases
?Tortilla wraps

Proper oils are fine and necessary!.!.!.

I always read ingredients on everything I buy!. I try to cook as much as I can (natural food) so that I know exactly what I am eating!. I would watch out for stocks and broths, typically they are chicken or beef!. also "natural flavorings" are typically chicken bullion cubes!. I'm not sure if you eat eggs, but they are in a great many items, even some you wouldn't expect!. It pretty much depends on you and how stick you are!. I'm a vegan so I am quite strict, but I stick with certain brands I know I can trust!. Amy's is a great vegetarian and vegan brand, lots of frozen foods and things like canned soups!. Morning star and Boca veggie crumbles are great!. (I don't eat their other products though)!. Just be careful and read throughly!. It's not as hard as it seems!. Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Oils including Canola oil ( This Canola oil contains extracts from a pigs thyroid and is genetically mixed with couch grass and other wheats!.!. they can get away with doing so cause extracts from pigs thyroids are also used for thyroid pills!) also just because some packer has labelled something vegetarian doesn't mean it really is! I've purchased soup labelled Vegetarian and when I read the ingredients list!.!. fish oil was in it!.!. that's not vegetarian! It was Campbells Vegetarian soup back to the store for exchange! I wrote to the company too! It might be different now! I've also ordered a Vegetarian Salad at Wendys and there was bits of chicken in it! They tried to tell me it was mushroom but I can tell the difference between chicken and mushroom! They probably picked out some chicken of that salad and missed some! Now if I get salad from Wendys I ask for plain salad!Www@FoodAQ@Com

YES!. I learned this the hard way! most packaged bakery snack things, like little debbies, donuts, hohos, and twinkies, etc!. actually have beef tallow in it (beef fat)!. Check the package of twinkies!. I think it actually says beef fat in the ingredients!. I had no idea until I read the ingredients!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I believe that in today's date, if anybody wants to become pure vegetarian, he should entirely stop eating outside food!. He should only eat food in those strictly vegetarian restaurants!. Everything in today's date seems to be contaminated with some or the other meat stuff!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

A lot of young veggies understand how to avoid meat, but do not get high enough protein input!. If you don't now, make sure to eat lots of beans (kidney, black, soy)!. also, look at the grocery store/farmer's market for some tempeh and seitan!. Yummy and healthy!Www@FoodAQ@Com

ummmm i dont know this for sure but your not supposed to eat fish!. If you are a real vegetarion you wouldnt eat like chicken flavored stuff like ramon noddles or something even though it doesnt exactly have the "meat" in it
*i hope i helped!!!*Www@FoodAQ@Com

Beta Carotene in drinks!. It's made water soluble by gelatine!. But it's fine in other foods, just not yellow/orange drinks!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Read the Italian Dressing label!. I have found weird stuff in them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
