Why do people who strongly oppose animal 'cruelty' ?!
pay no attention to things like Guantanamo Bay
or human rights Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
because a lot of ppl usually go for the snob side of everything, "let's all oppose to animal cruelty because some famous artists are saying so", but they don't really feel those ideas, just go with the flow!. yes, not all of them, but sadly, a great lot!. have you never seen ppl that claim to be echologyst and they buy lots of echological magazines (in plastic bags) go to echological meetings (by car) do a lot of (energy consuming) research on the internet, but they don't even realize what they're really doing!.
right now animal cruelty is a hot topic, and while there are lots of people that truly care for it, others just join in to be "cool"!.!.!.!. when the guantanamo bay issue becomes the fashion, those silly people will turn their concern!.
meanwhile, we, the little group that really care about problems, will marvel at their shallow ideas!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Apparantly you haven't met Maggie here on Yahoo! Answers!. She is a humanitarian and also one of the top 10 contributors to the V&V section!.
People who fight for animal rights are doing other things as well; it is not their main focus!. To say that all animal rights activists do not care about human rights is a stereotypical lie!.
I am a vegan, and I am doing my best to not contribute to animal suffering!. When I see people working to help out humans I think it's fantastic! But I also think that there are so many people helping out the human race, and sometimes we tend to forget about the animals!. Why!? Because they are silenced; they have no voice!. So even though I agree that it is extremely important to pay attention to human rights, I think animals need some helping out as well!.
But, alas, aside from my work with animals I also work in my community by doing things such as helping to feed the homeless, having bake sales to donate money to extremely poor families and such!. I'm doing the best I can!. You can't save the entire world, might I remind you!. You just have to do the best you can and pray that things get better!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Don't generalise, but I think I know who you are talking about!. Those teen I ? Jonas girls who are vegetarian for about a week because they look so fat today!. They are bored, and they don't watch the news!. So they protest against animal rights!. (PS some of them oppose animal cruelty and aren't vegetarian [even if it's not because of allergies or something])
But then, there are the majority, sensible people who stick to veg*nism, do their bit against cruelty, do NOT join PETA!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I agree with the first and third comments, as this is indeed a sweeping generalisation!. I also resent the cruelty in apostrophes as animals do experience cruelty, however human rights come first and whilst we will do everything we can to reduce animal cruelty, human rights are equally and more important!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
You've met every person opposed to animal cruelty!? And they ALL paid no attention to human rights!?
Sorry, but generalisation is the first resort of the lazy and sloppy thinker - and this is a sweeping generalisation!.
I am opposed to animal cruelty; I'm a vegan in order to minimise my personal contribution to animal suffering and exploitation!.
But I value human life way, way over animal life!. I am a lifelong political activist, and my activism has been for human rights not animal rights!. I have put my liberty at risk many times in order to protest injustice!.
Perhaps you should think more carefully before making wild generalisations and accusations
