Is this hypocritical of my 'vegan' friend?!
I'm vegetarian and my friend (who was a pescetarian but is now vegan) lectured me about the dairy industry and how it manipulates nature and animals etc!.
I'm all for his beliefs etc, but he drinks a lot and doesn't see any problem with the alcohol industry!.
Is that not hypocritical!? Www@FoodAQ@Com

LMFAO that is so hypocritical!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
Not hypocritical, no; he'd be hypocritical if he was lecturing you on dairy while consuming it himself, or if while drinking a lot himself he was lecturing others about the evil of drink!.
In common with probably the majority of vegans, he probably became vegan to minimise his personal contribution to animal suffering as much as possible!. His objection to the dairy industry is the suffering and exploitation of animals it involves!.
In supporting the alcohol industry he's not contributing to the suffering of animals, as long as he sticks to vegan alcohol - and no, not all alcohol is vegan or even vegetarian!. Many wines and beers are fined using animal products, from egg white and fish bladder to ox blood!.
Yes, alcohol can cause alcoholism, ill health etc, though it doesn't necessarily!. The only ill health he might be contributing to is his own!.
They're two separate issues!. There's no hypocrisy involved!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

See your friend just has a different scene on his beliefs!. Alcohol is not associated with meat at all, but there both very bad for you!. In a recent investigation they said that a man who drank 1 glass of beer each day would die sooner than a man who did not drink at all!. Same with meat, since the overdoses of sodium and fat is over-fattening and can cause large risk of heart disease!. So it was pretty much a little hypocritical, but maybe he just has a different aspect on alcohol than others!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Vegans don't typically switch to that lifestyle for health reasons!.!.!.they do so for the animals!. Vegans can still be very unhealthy and unfit, but they believe they are doing good so long as what they consume/wear isn't animal-based!.
Since alcohol doesn't require animals to die, alcohol is completely vegan!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well alcohol doesn't come from a cow though I understand where you are coming from!. He tells you that you are drinking something unhealthy but the he goes out and basically is drinking a drug (alchol is a drug if ou didn't know!)!. He is kind of a hypocrite but he is kinda right too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
It's not about hypocrisy, it is about your friend making a decision on where to draw the line in living an ethical/moral lifestyle
