Yes, a month after I turned vegetarian I had half a packet of jelly babies, then I remembered about gelatine and I was really horrified when I saw I'd eaten gelatine!. I nearly cried as it was my first month being veggie and I was doing so well! Now that wouldn't happen to me I always read the ingredients before touching anything!. And if I'm not sure if somethings vegetarian or not I find out on this website: http://www!.vegetarian!.ie/productpage!.htm Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, it has happened to me, and probably every other non-meat eater in the world!
I don't see the point in over reacting!. I generally feel a little queasy, a little disappointed, and relieved that I now know, I can avoid that item in the future!.
I've not eaten meat (or gelatine, animal fat, many e-numbers etc) since 1991, and even now there are still occasions that this happens!. Luckily, I can't remember the last time, but realistically, there probably will be a next time!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've done that from time to time over the years!. Earlier in my vegetarian life I would not feel bad or grossed out, and if there was anything left I'd probably finish it so it wouldn't go to waste, and just remember not to buy it again!. Now if it happens, I don't feel too personally guilty (it tends to be really weird stuff, like beef fat in Wal-Mart's chocolate frosting, or herring extract in a Japanese cream puff) but I'm much more likely to feel too disgusted to finish!. After so many years of not eating it, it's hard to think of meat as a food!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

When I found out gelatin wasn't vegetarian, that was kind of upsetting, since I like smores, rice krispie treats, skittles, and a couple of other things!. But marshmallow paste made a great substitute without the gelatin, and I wasn't a huge fan of the chewy candies anyway!.

I have accidentally eaten shrimp and pork in chinese foods (sometimes its hard to tell, or I'm too hungry to notice), and those make me real upset, especially when I'm told it was vegetarian!. Pork products cause me to cramp real bad!.

This one is embarrassing, but I once did a 24 hour fast (just for fun), and I worked out that same day, and afterwards, my family and I went to Carino's!. I ordered the eggplant parmesan, and I was so hungry, I ate most of it, even though I noticed it tasted off!. Turns out it was veal once I came to my senses!. I seriously don't know how I thought flesh looked like eggplant! We complained to the staff, and they gave our family free meals, didn't charge us or anything!. Still, I was crying! Calf meat!? That's like one of the saddest kinds of meat out there!Www@FoodAQ@Com

My Uncle has been vegetarian for over 20 years, and he accidently ate something with bacon in a few years back, argh!

I've also eaten normal stuff, then found out it has certain stuff in it that I didn't realise, e!.g!. I found out marshmallow has gelatine in, argh! It makes me feel really guilty and betrayed!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I skimmed a label and didn't see it had gelatin!. :P While I was snacking on it I was reading the box again and saw it! I immediately spit it out and brushed my teeth I felt so icky!.

But if I hadn't known about it until after I consumed it (by honest mistake) then I don't make a big deal about it!. Accidents happen, no one is the "perfect" vegetarian!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

yes!. i accidently ate chicken!. it was in baked ziti and who puts chicken in there!?!?!? and i thought it was cheese until i realized it wasn't!.!. and it was so gross!!
i felt grossed out b/c after not having meat in 6 years (at the time) i realized it was meat by the taste of a stale rusty flavor of blood!. Seriously I could TASTE the blood!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm been a vegetarian since my early 20's and I'm 53 now!. I used to worry about reading all the labels, but life is to short!. I'm sure from time to time I've had something with traces of meat byproducts in it!. You would have to live out in the woods and grow all your own food to stay away from everything!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I was once told (by a vegetarian) that some pretzels were fine for me to eat!. I later looked up the ingredients and found it had whey!. I felt stupid for trusting a vegetarian!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, it makes you feel disgusted with the company that puts cow hoof in chocolate!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yup!. I really didn't care because I do my best to be vegetarian and realize that nobody is perfect!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

yes i ate a pop tart a few weeks ago and then read the ingredients and saw gelatin :(Www@FoodAQ@Com
