Do vegetarians go deer hunting?!

Question: Do vegetarians go deer hunting!?
For those vegetarians that participate in deer hunting in the fall/winter - when you shoot the deer, do you just leave the dead animal in the woods since you won't be eating it!?

Or do you go through the effort of field dressing the deer and donate the meat to the local food pantry!?

Well, Farmer Jed, it all depends on why you've chosen to cut meat from your diet, and if you're hunting alone or with omnivorous friends!.

Me, I went vegan to help manage an incurable disability I got in the Marine Corps!. And holy crap, it actually works!! I'm never going back to meat, dairy, or eggs, but I will be snagging a hunting license this year and I'll give whatever I kill to friends and family!. I think that hunting animals to provide meat is a much more humane, tasty, and healthy way than grabbing some meat slab at the grocery store!. These animals have had a rich and full life, aren't pumped with antibiotics, don't live a stressed life (makes the meat taste worse!.!.!.that's why you don't typically eat deer hit with a car: the adrenaline pumping in its veins makes the meat taste foul), and are just tastier in general!. The best meat I've had always comes from wild caught fish or farm-raised cattle!.

Am I going to taste a bit!? Sure, just a bite!. My health isn't something I want to compromise, but surprisingly, I've actually begun to hate the scent of meat!. I had a bite of pheasant (my guy went pheasant hunting with his grandpa) and while part of me appreciated some of the flavors, the meat itself came off as greasy and kind of rotten!.

I'm probably going to get a million thumbs down from this comment!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Depends on their reasons for being Vegetarian!.

If it is a protest against mass produced animals being kept in poor conditions, but they are not totally against eating meat, then they may!. I'd imagine only if the animal was going to be eaten though or culled for humane reasons!. I don't think pure 'Sport' hunting can be justified!.

Prob not many do though! It is a personal choice!.

it never crossed my mind that vegetarians go deer hunting!.!. Most people are vegetarian because they care about animals and would like to put a stop to murdering them for food/clothing!. I think its kind of hypocritical to be honest!.!. i would never dream of hunting any animal!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

uhh, if you care about animals enough to not eat them, then why would you kill deer, thats just in humane and wrong!.!.!.i guess if it was for health reasons yo ucould kill the deer!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, some deer hunt!. Do people usually go deer hunting alone!? No!. So somebody would take it and eat it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i would never!. im against killing animals not for it especially hunting!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

no!.
that just defies the point of being vegetarian!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

so is violence always on your mind!? the cops should watching this guyWww@FoodAQ@Com

*thinks* hmmmm i honestly don't know of any that do!.
Most are avid supporters of PETA!. LOL!.

BUT IF it's any consolation to you, I am a Vegetarian (for 15 years now) and my step-father is a hunter!. So though i do not eat any "food with a face" I support Hunter's rights; And I actually don't mind that he does this, because once he shoots and kills an animal, he uses ALL of it, and he doesn't hunt solely for sport!. The family will have Venison for like, three months after the fact ROFL!.

I actually asked him if i could go hunting with him once or twice, as i think it would be an interesting experience!. He rarely uses a shotgun anymore, but instead does it with bow and arrow!. BUT he said, "Jenn, come on, you wouldn't kill an animal!. Shoot at it yes, kill it!? No way!. I can't see you doing that!." LOL!. I'm more the "stay at home and prepare the meal while everyone else is out hunting" type of a girl!. ;)

BUT if it makes you feel better, the last time that he went when his father was still alive, they had it strung up in the garage!. Zadie told me about how to cut the good meat away from the bad meat, and i watched him meticulousy cut, sort and separate the flesh!. I also slapped on the latex gloves and stuck my hand inside the belly of the deer, because i wanted to know what it felt like!. ((*grins* I was poking it's intestines and organs and feeling around!. It was weird, cool and gross at the same time!!)) And i also felt the head (it was chopped off and in a bag on the floor!.) LOL!.

ANYWAYS !.!.!.!. all this from a VEG!. LOL!. I have never met any other Vegetarian that is like me however; most wouldn't do that sort of thing at all!. I do not hunt, but i will prepare meat for others to eat!.
I don't eat meat, but i do not care if others do!. But to answer your question, no !.!.!. i do not think that a good deal of vegetarians actually hunt!.

They do, but oddly enough they use daggers and stab them just missing the vital organs so it takes longer to die and is more painful!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
