Oh you will most definitely lose weight by being a vegetarian!. Most definitely!. Trust me!. (I used to be overweight when I was a meat-eater, I'm a vegan and size 2 now, if that means anything!.) And of course you can eat fruit!
Anyway, if your main goal of eating a vegetarian diet is to lose weight, maybe you will find this website interesting:
http://www!.vegfamily!.com/health/vegan-we!.!.!.
And also:
"Research has shown people following a typical vegetarian diet consume, on average, around 500 fewer calories daily than their meat-eating counterparts!. Interestingly, the research showed that they actually ate more food than non-vegetarians!.
This can be attributed to the fact that vegetarians' diets are comprised mainly of complex carbohydrates!. Complex carbohydrates are starchy, fiber-rich foods, and are naturally low in fat!. Examples of complex carbs are legumes and other vegetables and grains!.
Remember, every 3,500 calories cut equals one pound lost!. If you do the math, it's easy to see that a 500 calorie-a-day deficit will lead to one pound of weight loss a week! Whether you're a veggie or a carnivore, a calorie cut is a calorie cut!."
Hope I helped!Www@FoodAQ@Com

lacto ovo vegetarians eat eggs, dairy and sometimes fish!.
I weighed more as a vegetarian then I do now as a light meat eater!.
Of course you can eat fruit! You should, it's good for you!.
Being a vegetarian takes a lot of discipline! You need to make sure you're getting enough proprotein, good fats, etc!.
Why don't you try eating a lot more veggies and fruits and slowly cut out the bad-for-you foods you feel you're eating!? If that ends up including meats, good for you! But try to be open to eating some protein, fish or organic meats, until you're comfortable with your protein substituting abilities!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Potato chips, high fat dressings, and ice cream are vegetarian!. So no, you won't lose weight because it's not a weight loss plan!. It takes discipline and planning to adhere to a vegetarian diet!. You've gotta have a better reason than weight loss or else, like with any diet, you'll stop when it's not working!.
I've been a vegetarian for 3 years and I weigh less now than I was an omni but it's only because I cook and bake most of my meals and sweets!. That way I know exactly what goes into my body!. It also helps to jog regularly!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, you can eat fruit!. Best to eat low sugar fruits though!. You can lose weight, but you need to cut calories and portion sizes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
vegetarianism is not a weightloss plan, it's a lifestyle!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
You can lose weight by going on any diet, you just eat less calories and you will lose weight!. If you eat more food now than you used to, no you will not lose any weight!. If you do decide to go vegetarian i would load up on pills and vitamins, because it's not a very healthy diet!. It's like atkins!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
