Ridiculing vegetarians?!
Ok this is more of a rant!. I have been a vegetarian since the age of 8!. I am now 19!. The thought of eating meat or poultry makes me physically sick!. The smell of it kills me too!. And I'm an extreme animal lover!. All my life people ask the same damn question "why are you a vegetarian" while they have an amazed look on their faces and they are in complete shock!. GET OVER IT!. It is our choice whether to eat meat or not and people have no right to ridicule and put down our beliefs!. This is coming from personal experience and from reading ignorant things that non-vegetarians continue to write on the Vegetarian section!. It is called minding your own business and being respectful of other people's choices!. Sorry just had to let out a little steam!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yeah, I agree, at times it can be very frustrating!. What gets me, is their notion that we are the weak ones, because we have chosen this diet!. I feel just the opposite is true!. We are the ones who are unwilling to advert our eyes to the incredible injustices, and cruelties which farm animals face on a daily basis!. We are the ones, who have said, "you know what, this is not acceptable to me, and I am no longer going to support this industry!." I believe a large percentage of these people who criticize vegetarians know in their heart that the living and dying conditions of these animals are deplorable, but they are unwilling to look, because it might make them feel uncomfortable, and this, I feel, makes them cowards!.!.!.!.and they call US weak!.!.!.!.au contraire, we are the strong ones!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
We, as vegans and vegetarians are expected to put up with meat eaters most of the time, and not ridicule them for their choices, and most of the time, we respect their decisions even though we are disgusted by them!. But they feel it is perfectly alright to ridicule us, even though we respect their choices, just because we are a (growing) minority!. It is very frustrating indeedWww@FoodAQ@Com
Part of growing up in Western culture is being indoctrinated into meat eating!. People are always scared or angry when they encounter something different!.
What annoys me more than that, though, are the ones who bring up stupid points to try to make up for the subconscious guilt they feel!. I'm talking about stuff like: "But you kill bugs when they smash on your windshield!."Www@FoodAQ@Com

I know ! its so !.!.!. maddening when people tell you how stupid or unhealthy you are for not eating cows and pigs ! I'm sure (most) people don't go around asking "Why are you buddist , jews are way better !" or "asians are not healthy !" So why do they say those things about Vegans !!?!!?! as long as we don't push our beliefs on anyone else it is our own damn right to say what goe's into out bodies !!!Www@FoodAQ@Com
My favorite argument is when people tell me I'll be deficient with protein and have to supplement it because I eat no animal products at all!. I'm also a bodybuilder, so that stupid theory flies right out the window!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Living in Seattle, I don't run into many of those kinds of people!. They're much more accepting, and a lot of the time they're like, "wow, you must have a lot of willpower! I could never do that!." It's nice!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Girl, I know exactly how you feel!. They are insecure in their own choices and have to validate them by telling themselves that we're wrong when it's really them with the problem!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
