Why are vegetarians so cruel to plant life?!

Question: Why are vegetarians so cruel to plant life!?
Plants may not have a nervous system being they are not animals, but they are still a life!. They are plant life and they can sense pain!. How they sense pain is is not totally understood but is probably some chemical process!. Anyways, how it happens is not as important as knowing they do sense and experience pain!. This has been proved by science experiment!. There is even a book written on this!. The book is called the "secret lie of plants" its by chris byrd!.

Why do you vegetarians care so much about animal life but not about plant life!?!?!?!?!? Why are you vegetarians being so cruel to plants!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Why are you sooooooooo heartless when it comes to plant life!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I do actually feel bad for the plants as well, but I can't go without eating meat and plants, there's no way I would make it if for that!.!.!. I'm just going with the lesser evil adn sticking with just eating plants!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Pain is a concept that only applies to the physical and emotional self!. As a plant has no central nervous system or brain it has no pain receptors or emotions!. As a plant has no brain it can not "sense" anything!.

"they do sense and experience pain!."

That is completely untrue!.

also it takes somewhere between 9 and 11 pounds of plants to produce a pound of meat, so even if your false conclusion was true then I would be reducing mythical "plant pain" by 90%Www@FoodAQ@Com

0) Yes, I care about plants

1) Basic biology
Sun -> plant -> herbivore (me)

2) Basic biology - eat to survive or die

3) Basic principle - we all chose where we draw the line ( I choose to be a vegan)!.

4) Can you quantify what you mean by plant pain!? Can you find me a more up to date reference than a book 35 years old!? Can you cite me up to date refereed articles - ie conventional science - to support this

5) Science proves nothing (and I am a phycisist) - go off and read some Scientific method and Karl Popper

6) Many vegetarians fully understand conservation, gardening etc

"They are plant life and they can sense pain!."

It doesn't matter that they are alive, I feel it's wrong to cause suffering!. Plants don't suffer!. And no, they can't sense pain!. A silly book is not proof that they can sense pain!. All real scientific research on the subject verifies that although plants may be able to react to stimuli, they do not sense pain!. I doubt you actually believe they can sense pain, so I guess it was kind of pointless for me to respond to another troll!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I thought this question died a much-deserved death!.

I could be sarcastic and say that I'm vegetarian because I hate plants, but you'd take me seriously!.

Look, you eat plants, right!? So you're murdering plants, too!. And the animals you eat have to eat something, and that would be--guess what!?!--PLANTS!. And it takes several pounds of plant food to produce a pound of animal food--like, duh!. So you, dear meat eater troll, are responsible for the deaths of far more plants than we are!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well then, meat eaters are way more cruel than us!.

I will start caring about plants when I can hear them cry or see that they are suffering!.

You are claiming you don't eat meat!? Why don't you ask yourself why YOU don't care about plants!. If you really think that plants and animals deserve the same treatment then there is something wrong with your head and you should seek help!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They have no central nervous system!. They exhibit no pain response!.

Meat eaters consume far more plant material than vegetarians- so even if ANYONE gave a diddly-squat about "The Secret LIFE of Plants" by Peter Tompkins and Christopher BIRD (The 1973 pseudo-scientific book that originally spawned this question) they would do plants more of a service by being vegetarian!.

everything we see and don't see has a "energy" which is consumed and utilized by us, even rocks (as minerals) that we eat have energy in them!. we take others energy to give us life!.-blureyWww@FoodAQ@Com

the same could be said for gravel!. maybe rocks feel pain, we just cant hear them scream when we run them over with our car, or barefeet!.( rolls eyes)
get a life!.plants are lovely, but cant feel a thing!.and they taste soo good!Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you say you are not a meat eater then how about you just eat dirt since you are so worried about plants!. Ohh or does the soil have pain too!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

hahaha!.!.!.this may sound dumb!.!.!.but i feel bad for plants, too ):Www@FoodAQ@Com

This is a little bit silly!. If you have a problem with vegetarians at least come up with a legitimate issue!. We are humans we gain all of our nutrients through eating plants / animals!. Just because someone has deiced to stop eating animals doesn't mean you should get mad at them about eating plants!. Are you telling everyone that you solely eat all meat every meal every day!? Didn't think so, you would die!. Vegetarians decided for whatever reason to not eat meat, get over it!. Not all vegetarians decided to be vegetarians because of animal "pain" or cruelty!. Some did it as a nutritional choice!. Don't group people into stereotypes and don't use silly arguments to insult vegetarians!. If you don't like them again just come out and say it!. I personally am not a vegetarian but I have absolutely nothing against them choosing not to eat meat!.!.!. Is it really that big of a deal that they don't eat the same things as you!? People all around the world eat different stuff!. Get over it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

exactly what study "proved" this about plants!? Not Chris because it is a book(a matter of opinion)!.

And plants do not FEEL pain, animals do FEEL pain!. And the way they are killed(murdered) is very painful!.

Animals don't feel pain!. Therefore you can eat them without murdering them!.

also, if everyone in this world was vegan, the whole world would be fed!.

BTW meat contains steroids and many other bad stuff and diseases, plants do not, so at least eating plants you won't get mad cow disease or other bad diseases, and you won't be eating the muscle/brains/guts of a dead animal!. AKA you're not a murderer!.

AND, people who are vegetarians and people who care about animals are not wacko, maybe you need to look a little closer to home on that issue :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Many Vegans and veg's argue that plants cannot feel pain, therefore killing a plant is a lesser crime as compared to killing an animal!. Today science tells us that even plants can feel pain!. But the cry of the plant cannot be heard by the human being!. This is due to the inability of the human ear to hear sounds that are not in the audible range i!.e!. 20 Hertz to 20,000 Hertz!. Latest researches show that the plants can even feel happy and sad!. It can also cry!. You can confirm it through an expert (Botanist)!. And the one who says plants dont suffer or dont feel pain, they dont scream must ask an expert botanist who have studied plants and trees about the matter of pain/sufferings in plants and trees!.

Your 1 friend is deaf and dumb and other friend is normal, both are murdered, will you say the judge to give a lesser punishment to the friend who was deaf and dumb because he cant scream or talk and give more punishment to the person who killed a normal person who can scream or talk!?!?!?

just google plants feel pain and read the studies that have been conducted!.

http://www!.department13designs!.com/vegan!.!.!.

please note that i am not veg, nor do i really care about animal rights or plant rights either way, it just doesn't make sense to me why many veg's are the way they are because they think eating animals causes them pain when eating plants does the same thing, you just can't hear them scream!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
