Are Energy Bars (Clif Bars, Balance Bars, Power Bars, etc.) A Good Source Of Protein For Vegetarian Athletes?!

Question: Are Energy Bars (Clif Bars, Balance Bars, Power Bars, etc!.) A Good Source Of Protein For Vegetarian Athletes!?
I switched to an all vegetarian diet about a week and a half ago!. I do consume dairy products, so I am not Vegan!.

I'm also a runner that logs in an average of 40 miles per week, so nutrition is very important to me!.

For Protein, I've been consuming:
-Skim Milk with my cereal!.
-Cheese Products (i!.e!. Ravioli)!.
-Almonds & Cashews!.

I'm still feeling a bit drained, and am concerned with the fat content of those protein sources!.

That said, what are some good, healthy protein alternatives to eating meats!? Are Energy Bars a good nutritional supplement!? They are high in refined sugars, and calories, but they do seem to have lots of protein!. Any suggestions for a newbie Vegetarian that wants to remain a Vegetarian!?

I work out about 6 days/week!. I don't run nearly 40 miles (wow!), but I do an intense combination of cardio, weight training and some gentle exercises like yoga and pilates!.

I'm a vegan and I love Clif Bars!. They are yummy and they satisfy that empty spot for me after lifting heavy!.
I think you're on the right track with the nuts - just don't eat more than a handful per day since you're concerned about fat!.
For protein, I eat a lot of beans!. I also eat quinoa!. It is the only plant source that is a complete protein!. The taste is acquired!.!.!.make sure you rinse it first!.
If you are okay with tofu, that is a great source of protein as well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Energy Bars are not a nutritional supplement by any stretch of the imagination!. They're a high-calorie snack food with some protein added, and they're not really all that healthy!.

Try some tofu!.!.!. high in protein and low in fat!. They have all kinds of flavors and recipes anymore!. I'm not vegetarian, but I do like it now any then!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

clif bars are very tasty and have a lot of protein, but most of the time they leave me feeling sluggish and regretful!. i don't know much about athletes' diets, but i suggest eating some more natural, less processed foodsWww@FoodAQ@Com

Eat some tofu, or if you don't like that, get a protein supplement from your nearest GNC!. Kidney beans, as well as many other legumes are a very good source of protein for vegetarians!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

yes because enough pro-tin can make a stronger athletesWww@FoodAQ@Com

like you said , they are candy bars Www@FoodAQ@Com

Protein bars are misleading many times, you have to really read through the ingredients if you are vegetarian as many protein products contain animal products such as gelatine and etc!. Good on you for choosing to be vegetarian, almonds, walnuts and other nuts are a great source of protein and good fats!. Egg whites and tofu/ soybean products are also a great source of high protein!. I would try to avoid those protein products and stick with using natural sources of protein, if you want to try those energy bars then just read the ingredients very cautiously!. Complan is a good milk shake sort of drink thats high in protein and uses only dairy products!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
