This question is asked numerous times!. It seems as if people that eat meat use it as their "GOTCHA" question, thinking that it makes being a vegetarian pointless!. We all know(omnivores included), that plants are not the same as animals!. Plants are not sentient being, and feel no pain!.

I do not think that people that cannot feel pain should be killed(plants and people are different, the same as animals and plants are different)!. However, there have been cases where people in a persistent vegetative state have been allowed to die because they were considered no longer alive and able to feel pain(remember the whole Terri Schiavo case where the feeding tube was allowed to be removed b/c of the husbands wishes and she eventually died of malnutrition and dehydration!?)

Plants do not have feelings!. No matter what someone argues plants are not capable of pain or feelings!. There is no evolutionary reason for plants to feel pain, pain is to signal that it is time to run, move, etc, and plants cannot escape danger, or move away from a devastating windstorm, or forest fire, why would a plant evolve pain if there is nothing that can be done from it!?

This argument is old and tired!. It proves nothing, and anyone with a 6th grade education can see the argument is silly!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Do you expect us, then, to eat only inorganic compounds!? Something created in the laboratory from minerals, gases and water!? Doesn't sound very appetising to me!.

We have to eat something - so, best to eat non-sentient lifeforms!. All animals which don't eat other animals to survive, eat plants and/or fungi and/or algae instead!.

Plants don't have a brain, central nervous system, face, independent movement (some will move a part of themselves in a reflex reaction to external stimuli), etc!.

Plants "breathe" in carbon dioxide and "breathe" out oxygen - the opposite to animals!. If you truly felt that, for some reason, we shouldn't eat them (I *know* you don't believe that - you were just being argumentative), do you think that we also should refrain from breathing in the oxygen that they've "breathed" out!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

okay, then why isnt it alright to boil lobsters alive!? it's been proven that they can feel absolutely no pain!.!. zip!. nada

hell, why is it bad to put a bullet through a cow's head and eat the meat!.!. it had no feeling of the pain!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Why is this question so popular lately!? Are you people serious when you ask this, because this is a repetitive and redundant question!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Many will say that plants can't feel because they don't have a CNS!. This is false!. Plants feel pain, but just not in ways we are aware of!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If god didn't want people to eat animals, why the hell did he make them out of meat!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
