Every time I would eat bacon, it felt like a heart attack waiting to happen anyway! Its a good thing im progressing into vegetarianism anyway ahahaWww@FoodAQ@Com
It depends what kind of bacon it is!. Bacon that is mass produced and processed is dangerous as are all processed foods and that includes both meat and soy!.
Bacon in itself is just a cut of pork that's cured and smoked and seasoned which if eaten in moderation is harmless and like Just Some Dude said a lot depends on what else you eat too as well as issues like stress, exercise, genetics, environment etc!.!.!.!.!.
Even Dr!. Collins who's quoted in your link says veges and fruits render the carcinogens "inactive" and then they are excreted from the body!.
The end result of a study like that is still inconclusive and that's why they say it "can" cause cancer and not it "does" cause cancer!. If it did indeed cause cancer it would happen to everyone who did it and not just some!. There's studies that say unfermented soy is dangerous too but most folks here discount that right!?
From your source, "There could be several reasons why processed meats may increase cancer risk"!. Key words "could be" and "may"!.
Like I've always said, the food industry is the largest industry in the world and the amount of $$$ involved is simply mind boggling!. Large amounts of $$$ (billions) are spent by the various players in the food industry to sway "results" in their favor!. But I think even meat eaters would agree that between the fat and the sodium (and nitrites) bacon is something that should be eaten infrequently!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Your link is to a newspaper report of a study; newspaper reports of medical studies are usually written by non-scientists (even if they are the 'science correspondent') and are notoriously unreliable!.
A diet HIGH in meat, particularly red and processed meats, is a recognised risk factor in the development of some colorectal cancers!. In addition, it's thought that a diet high in meat and fat may increase the risk of pancreatic cancer!. A diet high in red and processed meats is thought to possibly increase the risk of stomach cancer!.
That's about it for the known links between meat and the 200+ diseases that come under the umbrella title of 'cancer!.
Meat is not implicated in breast or prostate cancers, as people often claim on this forum!.
Bacon is a processed meat, so a diet very high in bacon would be a risk factor or possible risk factor for the cancers I've named!. A risk factor is not a cause!. Insurance companies treat 'being male' as a risk factor for car crashes, but being male doesn't actually cause car crashes!.
People throw the word cancer around very casually on this forum; it's received wisdom that 'meat causes cancer' and veganism protects against it, and anyone challenging that receives a shedload of thumbs-downs!. Yet the people saying it are usually just repeating what they've heard and know nothing about cancer!.
In fact there are no foods proven to cause cancer - or to prevent, treat or cure it either!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It depends on what else you eat!.
First of all, your data is no doubt from a "study" which is not the same as scientific research!. Secondly, if you eat fiber, it will carry any undigested foods out of your system quickly!.
There is no food or drink that has been verified as causing any cancers!.
Do you have a link to your figures so we can see who sponsored them!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

This is a bit off topic, but the best rule is "moderation in all things!. Most meat eaters eat to much meat!. Having bacon and eggs for breakfast once a week wouldn't harm anyone!. Bacon every day would be playing with fire, because of it's very high fat and cholesterol content!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
