Is it ok for vegetarians to eat food with or been cooked in Animal Fat?!
because some fish and chip shops cook there food in Animal Fat is it ok for a vegetarian to eat (eg Potato Cake or chips)Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
definitely not for me (i am a strict vegan)!. but if you want to, its your choice!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Personal choice I think!. It's not like vegatarianism is a religion, people make up their own rules when it comes to vegatarian eating and that really is fine!. For some people, they consider themselves vegetarian because they don't eat red meat but will eat anything else!. So for them it's fine!. For others, they eat no animal products period, no cheese no milk no animal fats nothing!. For them it isn't ok!. Then you have the whole realm in between where many people fall into!. Your diet, however you choose to do it, is a personal thing!. There really isn't, nor should there be, a blanket set of rules for how you can eat and can't eat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Ideally, no!. Some vegetarians are loose with their rules though, it's a personal choice and you will have to decide for yourself how strict you will be!. Generally, if a vegetarian knows it's cooked with animal fat, they won't eat it anymore!. If you don't want to be as strict, that's a personal decision that only you can make!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
Most chips (that's French fries to the Americans) commercially produced and supplied to restaurants (and fish and chip shops) are already precooked in tallow (animal fat) before they leave the factory!. If you buy frozen chips in the supermarket to cook at home, always check the ingredients list first, as most of those contain tallow too!.
Oh, and to answer your question - I would say it's not ok, as it compromises your principles!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think some people would be ok with it, but they are in the minority!. I myself would find that disgusting, unappetizing and just generally rude (after all, I'm trying to avoid meat-products, and animal fat is a meat product!. Plus there are so many better, healthier ways to cooks food!)!.
I think everyone is different though, so whether or not someone would eat it is an individual decision, but as a general rule, I would say no!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No that would not be considered vegetarian!. You can ask if they can use vegetable oil instead of animal fat!. If they can't, then ask for something else like steamed veggies, salad, baked potato, etc!. Always bring snacks with you like nuts, energy bars, and dried fruits so that you won't be hungry if you have to stay in a place like that!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
If you're a vegetarian, you don't eat fish anyway!. So it doesn't much matter!. But anything cooked in animal fat, is, by definition, not vegetarian!. I know vegetarians who won't eat McDonald's fries because they spray them with animal fat after they fry them in vegetable oil!. I don't eat McDonald's fries for other reasons!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
No, not vegetarians or vegans!.
The animal fat is from a dead animal, like gelatin in Jello or Skittles candy, or the enzymes in some cheeses!.
It is an animal by-product and not ok for those who have swore off eating animals!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
