As a vegetarian/vegan, do you get offended when...?!
!.!.!.someone uses your cutlery/saucepans/plates for animal products!?
I put a lot of time, effort, and money into finding stainless steel saucepans that had not been polished with animal fat during the manufacturing process when a house guest fried black pudding (pig's blood) and sausages in my wok!. She didn't understand why I was so offended!. Am I being unreasonable!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm not a vegetarian but I don't think you are being unreasonable!. I have friends that are vegetarian and when I cook in their pots and pans and stuff I usually only cook veggies!. They don't mind if I cook meat but I don't do it in their stuff just out of respect for their beliefs!.
On another note:
Pigs blood!!? Like I said I'm not a vegetarian but pigs blood is nasty!. That'd make me lose my lunch!. If they cooked that in my pots I'd probably hit them!. lolWww@FoodAQ@Com

No, I can definitely understand how you feel! And of all the types of meat it had to be that! I didn't know what black pudding was before now but that's definitely pretty nasty!.!.!. I live with my bf who isn't a veggie so I do have someone making meat occasionally in my pans (although rarely) and it doesn't bother me as long as he cleans everything well afterwards, but it's totally personal how you feel about that!. You are definitely allowed to be upset! Especially since you told them you had separate pans for meat!. But it's also hard to get mad at people when they don't understand when something means a lot to you!. It was probably just an honest mistake!. So, in conclusion, being upset about it is totally understandable, but it's not worth staying upset about!. Presumably she understands your feelings now and hopefully it won't happen again! :)Www@FoodAQ@Com
No you are not being unreasonable!.
I do get annoyed when my flatmates are inconsiderate and use my plates for meat dishes AND keep their raw meat in the fridge on them!.
(I live with 9 other girls and i am the only vegan)
The other day one left a chicken breast in the fridge without any clingfilm or tinfoil on it, i was disgusted and ended up cleaning the whole fridge since the juices from the chicken ended up all over my soy products!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, you're being unreasonable!. Why!? Because you didn't warn them!. You just assumed they would magically know not to use your pans, as GUESTS in your house, to cook non-vegetarian foods when they are not vegetarians!. So, omnivores used your cookware because you didn't lay out any ground rules, and now you're mad!?
Sorry, sister, you can't do that!. It was your fault for not explaining the rules!. If you took so much care and time to find pans that weren't polished with animal fat, then why on earth didn't you take the time and care to tell your guests not to use the pans for that reason!? It's your fault, you can't get mad at them for it!. How the hell were they supposed to know if you didn't tell them!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, you are absolutely right in wanting to keep your pans etc free from meat and animal products!.
Due to our religious background, we used to have two sets of everything for food with/without meat before becoming vegetarian (and later vegan)!.
Once there was blood in your wok, that's it!. You could of course clean it with cooking water and then keep it somewhere for meat-eating house guests to come!.

If you told her in advance that you didn't want animal products to be used in certain pans, there is no excuse for her doing it!. It's amazing that you have a whole separate set of pans for your guests to use to accommodate their choice, they should be respecting yours! I would be upset, it was disrespectful to you as a host!. Well, thankfully, I live alone, so I don't have to worry about that!. That being said, though, I can certainly understand why you feel the way you do!. Not only that, but your guest should have asked your permission to borrow your wok, since that would have been the courteous thing to do in the first place!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I've been a vegetarian for 3 years in a family of meat eaters!. I try not to think about it when i cook with the same pans but as long as they are thougrally cleaned before i use them then i think it's fine and doesn't make me anyless of a vegetarian then anyone else!. To be honest, it's really up to personal opinions and situations!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Being a veggie is as as individual as you are, I didn't care about what was cooked in my pans, but I wouldn't allow veal in the house ( not that it ever came up) But if I told someone not to use my pans and they did, then I'd be pissed of (not offended) that they ignored me!. That's rude!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
If you told her, then she should not have done that!. It is difficult for people to understand veganism so if she said she was sorry, I would just let it go!. It does not offend me, personally, however!. My husband is a meat eater and I am a vegetarian but all of our food gets cooked in them dishes!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
Yes, I think that's unreasonable and that you were a bad hostess!. They can be washed!. And no one should be using nonstick pans!. Teflon is a likely carcinogen according to the EPA!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Yeah that pi**es me off as well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Yes how could you have a friend that kills and consumes animals!?!?!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Get over it ,you over reacted!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
