Some brands of licorice are ok!. Others contain the emulsifier 471 or E471, which, unless it specifies the source as vegetable or soy, could be of animal origin!. Most lollies in Australia contain either gelatin(e) (441), stearic acid (570), egg-white, milk, or "mono- and di-glycerides of fat-forming fatty acids" (471) - some even contain shellac (904) as a glazing agent!. If they are red, the colouring could be cochineal (120)!. Yeah, I know - sucks big time!. I have a sweet tooth, so I only eat lollies I know are safe, which can be very hard to find in most supermarkets!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

nope - gelatin

You can have skittles! Or you may get the jelly fruits at your greengrocer, their in plastic packs shaped like fruit and all different colours - you can have them too!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

watch out for gelatine in the ingredients!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
