Iron deficence in Vegetarian?!
How do you boost your iron without eating meat!? I have tried iron pills that you buy over the counter, the one with the red cap and a more herbal one, but they make me vomit!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Eat plenty of green leafy vegetables, such as spinach!.
Increase your vitamin C intake, as this helps with iron absorption!.
Cook with iron pots!.
Avoid too much milk!.
Avoid too much softdrink (I assume this means the ones with caffeine)!.

Dried beans and peas, lentils, enriched cereals, whole-grain products, dark, leafy green vegetables, and dried fruit are good sources of iron!. Eating foods(at the same time as iron rich foods) containing vitamin C helps the body absorb iron — foods containing vitamin C include, strawberries, citrus fruits, tomatoes, cabbage and broccoli!.

beans, including kidney, lima, navy, black, pinto, soy beans, and lentils!. iron fortified whole grains, including cereals, breads, rice, and pasta!. greens, including collard greens, kale, mustard greens, spinach, and turnip greens !.vegetables, including broccoli, swiss chard, asparagus, parsley, watercress, brussel sprouts!. dried fruits, such as raisins, prunes, dates and apricots!. I've donated blood practically every eight weeks for the last 15 years, and I have never been turned down because of iron deficiency (once it was too high!)!.
I like spinach so I have it fairly often, and I eat beans and lentils regularly!. But I don't give much thought to boosting my iron, it just sort of happens!. Really, the typical American diet seems to be more nutritionally deficient than a vegan one!.

forget the iron pills!. i've been vegan for 2!.5 years and i've never once been iron deficient!. just consume a healthy, well-balanced diet!. i eat a lot of vegetables, primarily a lot of broccoli and spinach!. consume a lot of beans and legumes!. i put hummus on nearly everythingWww@FoodAQ@Com
Apricots, peaches, parsley, seaweed, chives, peppers, tomatoes, thyme, spearmint, soy protein isolate, peanut butter, pumpkin seeds, and sesame seeds all have iron!. Eat a variety of these things everyday if you are concerned about iron!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I had same problem when I first became a vegetarian!. Go to Wal-Mart, and look in their freezer section!. They have veggie burgers, veggie chicken patties and all sorts of stuff, and a lot of them taste just like the real thing!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
When I used to donate blood, my iron levels were always higher than the normal meat eater people!.
